No Duties and Responsibilities
• The Executive Director will build and implement a comprehensive alumni and donor engagement strategy to foster alumni and donors into lifetime engagement and philanthropy within the university.
Responsibilities will include the following:
• Lead a team dedicated to supporting and managing the National Alumni Advisory Board, Council of Regents and other volunteer advisory and affinity boards.
• Lead a team to identify and curate engagement opportunities for our alumni and donors across the University enterprise and assemble compelling, relevant and cost-effective programs and events that connect alumni and donors to the University in relevant the inspiring ways.
• Assist advisory and volunteer boards to fulfill their advisory function by working closely with Deans, Center Directors, and other University leadership to ensure they have access to a wide array of expert alumni and donors in support of our mission.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the university to identify and cultivate a pipeline of volunteers and implement best practices across the volunteer continuum and to connect those groups to our alumni engagement strategy.
• Lead a cross functional team of advancement and university personnel to plan and execute alumni weekend, reunions, regional programming and other signature events and engagement opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with university-wide senior leaders, trustees, and other volunteers, to design strategies for maximizing philanthropic support and alumni engagement and participation.
• Partner with Advancement colleagues to identify and cultivate potential alumni prospects through volunteer leadership and engagement opportunities.
• Guide financial oversight for all programs and budgets; including the identification and implementation of fundraising and giving opportunities for volunteers and advisory boards.
• Identify and build relationships with a diverse group of alumni and donors.
• Lead the development and staffing of reunion committees in support of our class based giving program and reunion weekend.
• Engender alignment and enthusiasm with student groups, such as student government, affinity groups, athletics, and Greek life, to integrate and connect alumni and students; creating a culture of alumni engagement during the student experience and visibility to ensure successful transition from student to active alumni.
• Optimize coordination of activity and cross-collaboration among all fundraisers throughout the advancement division.
• Identify and utilize university leaders and resources to connect donors and alumni to the university, and its mission, to deepen their interest, involvement, and giving.
• Establish and grow relationships with other functional units and schools throughout the university to advance volunteer and engagement opportunities for alumni including but not limited to career services and placement and mentoring programs.
• Maintain an appropriate return on investment for all engagement strategies, by designing, implementing and evaluating annual and multi-year performance metrics required for successful engagement efforts.
• Oversee the recruitment, management, development, and retention of staff and direct reports, fostering a culture of teamwork, mentoring, and effective contributions.
• Serve on the Advancement senior leadership team and support the overarching fundraising strategy for the University.
• The position requires travel, evening and weekend work in support of our collective aspirations.
• Perform other duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience Minimum Education and/or Experience:Bachelor’s degree required, master’s preferred.Minimum eight years of significant leadership experience in higher education or other non-profit fundraising, alumni relations, volunteer management, board management and/or engagement events.Experience in higher education desired.Experience managing and supervising teams required.

Individuals with a track record of two years or less in previous roles will not be considered.Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
