Executive Director

Franciscan Ministries

This is a Contract position in Lemont, IL posted December 16, 2021.

Overview:

Franciscan Village, a nationally ranked and recognized Life Plan Senior Living Community located in Lemont, IL has a rare and exciting opening for a dynamic Executive Director! The Flagship Community of Franciscan Ministries, Franciscan Village includes cottage homes, independent living rentals, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and long-term care levels of living.

As the Executive Director, you will manage the overall operations of the community in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Franciscan Communities standards and practices. Your role ensures the community operates in a sound financial position, and at all times a strong emphasis is placed on quality standards. Additionally, you will create a partnership and allegiance with the local community to insure local needs are met. The Executive Director will lead the management team in support of the mission and values of the organization consistent with the goals and vision of Franciscan Communities and Franciscan Ministries.


Responsibilities:
  • Achieves organizational, financial and quality objectives. Ensures that service lines and programs are responsive to resident needs, and quality care is delivered in the most effective and economical fashion
  • Establishes and maintains an effective collaborating relationship with the residents via the working components of the residents’ organization, namely the residents’ council and its various committees
  • Oversees the development and implementation of written policies and procedures that reflect the goals and objectives of the community
  • Ensures that residents’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to register complaints, are established and maintained at all times
  • Oversees the establishment and maintenance of a public relations program that services the best interest of the community
  • Establishes and maintains a working relationship with the medical profession and other health- related facilities and organization through formal, working, and transfer agreement where appropriate
  • Meets with department supervisors concerning the operation of their departments and other related areas, to assist in eliminating/correcting problem areas, and/or improvement of services
  • Keeps abreast of the economic condition/situation and make adjustments as necessary to assure the continued ability to provide quality resident care
  • Prepares an annual operating budget and allocates the resources to carry out programs and activities of the community. This includes analyzing the structure of resident charges and recommending timely raises in rates (based on market conditions) in order to create the necessary income to continue to provide resident care.
  • Assures that adequate financial records and cost reports are submitted to authorized government agencies as required
  • Represents the community in dealings with outside agencies, including governmental agencies and third-party payers, or provides an authorized representative of the community when unable to attend such meetings
  • Assists in external marketing endeavors in an effort to promote the community both before and after opening, as well as to grow the potential lead/referral base for each level of care (Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Support, and Skilled Nursing)
  • Delegates authority, responsibility, and accountability to the responsible department heads
  • Attends and participates in educational workshops, seminars, and meetings in order to keep abreast of current changes in the health care fields, as well as to maintain a professional status
  • Assures that the community is maintained in a clean and safe manner for resident comfort and convenience by assuring that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained to perform to perform such duties/services
  • Plans, implements, and maintains an adequate liaison with residents and families
  • Actively participates in the Franciscan Ministries Leadership program and fulfills the mandatory educational elements as defined for the position
  • Carries out other related duties and responsibilities that may become necessary or as directed by FM executive leadership

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of relevant long-term care managerial experience in IL, AL, MC and SNF; 7-10 years preferred
  • New construction prelease experience a plus
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in regulatory compliance, reimbursement, human resource development and management, business development, business accounting, budget processes, and nursing operations
  • Commitment to team-oriented outcomes and quality care
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform overnight travel
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the applicable area of study; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Strong knowledge of employment law including federal and state regulations
  • Illinois Licensed Nursing Home Administrator is required
  • Strong knowledge of Employment Law
  • Must be able to provide proof of current COVID-19 full vaccination
