As a team we collaborate to solve problems, contribute ideas and challenge each other to ensure growth and ultimately success for the business and our employees.Job Description and ResponsibilitiesEVRAZ North America is currently seeking a Program Manager, Plates who will be based in Portland OR and supported by the Regina Research & Development (R&D) Centre.

In this role, you will be responsible for Portland’s new product development programs and will also act as the liaison between R& D andPortlandOperations and Technical Servicesfor identifying systemic technical issues, developing research projects to address those challenges and implementing process solutions.

You will also be responsible to provide technical support toPortlandOperationsthrough utilizing R& D’s resources, as well as to thePortland Technical Services Teamaddressing and responding to the technical inquiries and concerns of our customers.

You will demonstrate agility in guidingR& Dto respond to changing business strategies.

You will report to the Director of Research and Development.

Responsibilities will include:Manage the overall scientific, technical and administrative aspects of the R& D Plates ProgramProvide advice and act as the key interface between the R& D and the internal and external stakeholdersLead the new product development initiatives and serve as a key resource, from concept to commercializationProvide technical support to Portland Operations and Technical Services in developing and implementing process solutionsProvide support to North American teams, including advising on process development/improvement needsConceptualize, prepare, supervise/execute and deliver short, medium and long-term research projectsEstablish priorities, review work and monitor progress to ensure optimal project outcomesProvide support in developing and managing metallurgical operations and work practices that maximize operational efficienciesEnsure compliance with established Guidelines and Standard Operating ProceduresUnderstand and demonstrate safe work practices at all times to ensure a safe work environmentServe as a management team member and adviser to the DirectorPromote a strong positive team spirit and work to develop a culture that is positive and rooted in respect as well as accountabilityKeep current on new developments in the areas of thermomechanical processing, heat treatment and formingRequirementsMaster of Science or PhD (preferred) in Metallurgy or Mechanical EngineeringFive plus years of experience in product and process development and technical support in the areas of plate and heavy coil hot rolling and forming as well as in heat treatment; extensive industry related R& D and innovation knowledge preferredFive plus years of experience managing technical teamsDemonstrated leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to foster a collaborative team environment with cross-functional teamsWell-developed coaching and mentoring skillsAbility to work with multi-functional teams and effectively interface with external partnersProject management experienceProven ability to work independently and execute multiple projects in a timely mannerExceptional problem solving, critical thinking and decision making abilitiesEffective written and verbal communication and presentation skillsCreative, highly motivated and self-startingExcellent planning and organizational skillsOur total compensation package includes amazing benefits!Competitive wages and bonus opportunitiesFamily medical, dental, and prescription coverage at minimal employee costShort and long term disability programsCompetitive retirement plansFlexible Spending and Health Savings AccountsEmployer-provided and Voluntary Life Insurance optionsPaid vacations and 10 paid holiday days per yearApprenticeship and career advancement within the companyTuition reimbursementWellness programAll applicants must be eligible to work in the USA without sponsorship.While we thank all those who apply, only those being actively considered for employment will be contacted.Equal Opportunity EmployerEVRAZ North America is an EqualOpportunity/AffirmativeAction employer.
