Job SummaryThe Group and Events Sales Manager will prospect, manage and develop key accounts for Nobu Hotel Chicago.
Meet & exceed individual room,banquet and ancillary revenue goals.
Negotiate rates and hotel services within hotel revenue guidelines.
Develop action plans for account solicitation in defined market/territory.
Entertaining hotel clients both on and off property.
Travel to feeder markets.
Execute plans for representing the hotel on site visits and sales calls (phone & in market).
Attending required internal meetings for sales.
Represent Nobu Hotel Chicago and RCD Hotels in the highest professional manner at all times.Duties and ResponsibilitiesExecute sales activities to achieve budgeted goalsProspecting new event sales and group leads by outbound effortsPerform tasks and projects that support client schedules and sales revenue achievement such as assisting with telephone volume, walk-in site inspections, and evening and weekend appointmentsAnalyze business to ensure booking guidelines and parameters for proper meeting space to guestroom ratio is appropriate to meet hotel’s objectivesAggressively build and maintain professional and active relationships with clients, third parties and industry related counterparts, recognizing these key sources as lead generatorsMaintain sales database with proper client and business information adherence to leader’s expectations.
Execute sales objectives, managing sales pipeline, and forecastingPrepare details for groups prior to group arrivalNegotiate and prepare sales contracts for venue management teams to effectively execute events and exceed client expectationsLead resume review meetings with applicable departmentsCoordinate all aspects of the client’s needs by utilizing departmental services, along with services provided by local vendors who may offer services and/or products as requestedCommunicate updates to reflect an accurate and current status of all meeting requirements and attendee counts enabling operation departments to accurately deliver the client’s needsCreate BEOs.
After BEOs have been distributed to all departments, maintain accurate and up to date information by continually updating Operation Departments of changes by following changes process procedures whenever changes to a meeting have occurredConduct pre and post-conference meetings as appropriateStay ahead of hotel competition their new developments, services and amenities, to ensure competitive knowledge and strategy are currentPerform all responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner, following established policy and projecting a favorable image of the hotelComplies with hotel standards for sales while working harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and leadership teamHas excellent product knowledge of hotel facilities, capacities and room dimensions as well as to have same knowledge of competitive hotelsAssist in the annual, quarterly and monthly strategic sales planPlan and/or attend and/or participate in meetings with hotel associates as well as pre-conference meetingsHighly motivated and flexible, possessing the ability to take initiative, to succeed under pressure and meet deadlinesHave analytical skills, as well as excellent problem recognition and resolution skills as well as the ability to objectively communicate troublesome spots ahead to the hotel’s senior leadershipReading, writing and oral proficiency in the English languageKnowledge of Sales, Reservation and Room’s distribution functionsMaintain a good working relationship with other colleagues by promoting teamwork and fostering a harmonious working climatePartake in a positive work ethic and surrounding environmentExcellent communication skills verbal and writtenProfessional, passionate and positive work environmentTravel may be required for this position.

Ability to visually review documents and computer screen throughout day.Physical Environment:Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time during course of shift.Manual SkillsSignificant portions of daily assignments involve application of manual skills requiring motor coordination in combination with finger dexterity, e.G., typing, handwriting, or machine operations.Work Schedule:Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, Associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.Safety:Responsible for operating within hotel safety guidelines, including the safe and responsible operation of hotel equipment.
Reports and addresses safety concerns as they arise.
Ensures safe handling of chemicals in accordance with hotel and department standards and utilizes proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when appropriate.QualificationsEducation:High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate required.
College degree preferred.
Degree in hospitality management preferred.Experience:One to two years Hotel Sales Manager experience in a similar resort or Conference Center.Computer Skill & Other Technical Skills:Ability to utilize computer software and hardware required.
Ability to easily maneuver on computer keyboard required.Communication:Ability to comprehend and speak English to understand and respond to information and address advanced guest requests required both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of additional language(s) preferred.Other:Must be customer-service oriented and have excellent hospitality skills.
