ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Area Restaurant Leader provides overall leadership and direct supervision over Restaurant General Managers (RGMs) while overseeing the restaurants (typically between 5 and 8) in that area to deliver top quartile operating metrics and meet or exceed the annual operating plan established for the market.

The ARL accomplishes these objectives by leading RGMs and restaurant team members to build capability and execute brand standards.

Focal points include daily review of area and unit-specific performance targets in guest service, margin improvement and team member satisfaction, maintaining company standards in food safety, product and facility specifications, allocating limited capital budgets to meet highest priority facility needs, introducing and reinforcing new company products and initiatives, and selecting, training, developing and motivating management and their teams.

The ARL position is a hands-on field-based position, and the ARLs may directly perform hands-on operational work as necessary to train new managerial team members, respond to immediate or severe customer service needs, or otherwise role model appropriate skills and behaviors in the restaurant.

The ARL needs to be available to support operations leaders and respond timely as needed to account for the business operating hours.

This person will also be responsible for creating and leading a company culture that is conducive to continuing the companys mission and core values.

The principal role of the ARL is to support the long-term development of their RGMs.

WHATS EXPECTED OF YOU:

Team Leadership & Culture Building (People)

Identify and develop a bench of talented restaurant leaders (RGMs, AGMs, and Shift Leaders) through the use of external recruiting initiatives, Role Scorecard reviews, period one-on-ones, and Career Development Plans (CDPs)
Promote and encourage a culture of accountability and recognition to inspire all team members to be their best selves
Participate in new manager orientations to ensure alignment and a positive first-day experience
In partnership with HR and your Market Leader address all performance issues in a timely manner through, feedback/coaching and execution of performance management processes
Lead your team through, setting clear expectations, effective communication (written and verbal), & consistent follow-up
Participate in period rallies, weekly RGM and ARL meetings, training classes, and company events

Ensure Guest Satisfaction (Guest)

Role model Mission & Core Values at all times through a positive and enthusiastic attitude
Drive a positive guest experience through the execution of all Brand Standards (CORE)
Master all operating standards and systems to provide coaching excellence to RGMs to ensure that each restaurant consistently delivers delight to every guest
Lead product and program rollouts with RGMs to ensure success
Understand restaurant trade areas and competitors with the goal of being Best On Block
Timely address guest complaints and PRCs within 48 hours by resolving with delight

Operational & Financial Leadership (Sales and Profits)

Lead the restaurant team in day-to-day field operations
Successfully execute the company morning success routines to ensure RGM continuous improvement and engagement around financial & operational excellence
Analyze the financial performance of each restaurant and understand trends (daily, weekly, period, quarter, and YTD)
Drive unit-level profitability and brand standard execution, by utilizing company Scorecards to manage operations and financial metrics
Visit restaurants within the area of responsibility, utilizing the Companys established calendar and visitation process to calibrate on performance standards and to provide an objective feedback
Conduct Period Business Reviews, discussing operational metrics, bench planning, and P&Ls with RGMs, in order to drive sales and maximize profitability
Conduct quarterly Role Scorecard reviews with RGMs in order to drive company strategic pillars

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate will have 3+ years of field restaurant multi-unit operations experience, leading high-performing operations teams within a QSR environment
This person will have had direct P&L responsibility and a track record for effectively teaching and developing direct reports
Ability to work the necessary hours to meet the needs of the business; including nights, weekends, and holidays and be available to his or her teams at all times
This candidate will have experience in successfully operating restaurants in turn-around situations, with a track record demonstrating the ability to effectively staff, train, motivate and retain the teams they build under them
Must be an excellent teacher and coach with an ability to develop teams
Detail-oriented and a problem solver who leads by example and with a sense of urgency
Highly motivated, self-directed, and results-driven

Self-motivated leader with a track record of strong leadership skills with the ability to positively influence change for their team
