Distribution Assistant Manager, St. Louis

**Job Description**Thisposition is responsible for assisting the Distribution Manager with thesuccessful day to day execution of the operational plans for the fleet,management of driver and load dispatch, including efficient route optimization,equipment utilization, safety and hours of service.**Duties and Responsibilities**+ Managestaff and yard operation as assigned by Manager as determined by the assignedManager+ Coach,train, and mentor direct reports in order to ensure personal growth and careerdevelopment+ Assistdriver recruitment and retention+ Ensureall transportation employees understand and operate within the organizational,operational, safety and service policies and procedures+ Supportthe Manager with the execution of the daily operating plan, driver assignments,and dispatching+ Verifythat all required paperwork is available, accurate, and assembled in advance ofdriver’s dispatch times+ Ensureavailability of equipment to meet driver assignments in advance of dispatchtimes (slip-seating and equipment share)+ Providevarious levels of communication via in group settings, one-on-one coaching onsubjects, not limited to, performance, safety, business practices, etc.+ Developa viable contingency plan in the event of absenteeism and or last-minutebusiness requirements+ Monitorreal-time transportation and fleet management systems to address challenges andmaintain proactive direct communication with both drivers and customers(Internal / External)+ Utilizecompany determined electronic devices and systems to track driver performanceand provide feedback related to performance in a timely, positive, andsupportive manner+ Ensuredriver returns, shortage, breakage, and product pick-up procedures are managedand tracked daily.

Persistent issues need are to be addressed accordingto company policy and escalated to Depot Manager if necessary+ Ensureall DVIR’s are monitored and equipment is either delivered and or requiredrepairs are communicated to the maintenance provider+ Communicatewith Depot Manager and State Fleet Manager to ensure compliance withmaintenance programs for all equipment+ Providedaily feedback and communication to the Manager and Routing Team relating toprevious and upcoming delivery plans+ Assistwith the management of P&L and budgetary requirements+ Responsiblefor safe vehicle operations, hours of service (HOS) compliance, equipmentsafety, safe loading/unloading.

Must collaborate and participate inrequired safety committees and must comply and support the Depot Manager, StateSafety Manager, and State Fleet Safety Manager+ Maintainthe security of facility, equipment, products in an organized and clean manner+ Strivefor the continuous overall improvement of fleet operations+ Performother job-related duties as assigned **Qualifications** **Minimum Qualifications**+ Bachelor’sDegree and three years of experience or equivalent education and relatedexperience+ Proficientin Microsoft Office Suite+ Strongorganization, multi-tasking and time management skills+ Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license and ability toobtain and maintain auto-liability insurance in accordance with State laws+ ClassA CDL required+ Strongknowledge of DOT rules and regulations+ Validstate motor vehicle operator’s license**Preferred Qualifications**+ Strong communication skills
