Director of Strategic Development
Summary of Position
As a key leader of the Sundance Leadership Team, this position leads the development of a cohesive, effective, and comprehensive Business Development (BD) strategy and the implementation of tactics for sales, managing a winning proposal process and marketing to achieve industry leadership, growth in revenue, and profitability.

Leads business development and sales in providing strategic thought leadership, sales funnel creation and tracking, client relationship development, developing and implementing a successful conference/trade show strategy, brand, and visibility in the marketplace and responsible for short and long-term business objectives.

Serve as the central BD focal/coordination point, working in close concert with the Sundance team throughout the BD cycle/process, to ensure effective client relationship development, and proposal strategy and development.

Duties & Responsibilities
Prepares, updates, maintains and manages a Strategic Plan with financial goals and objectives, including sales budgets and strategic and tactical plans, as well opportunity tracking.

Ensures external client focus by gaining insight into customer needs.

Identifies opportunities that benefit the customer.

Builds and delivers solutions that meet customer expectations.

Anticipates future trends and implications, develops competitive strategies.

Organizes, directs, and motivates an opportunity capture team to develop strategic sales deliverables.

Conducts research and analysis of business opportunities and markets.

Influences market direction based on projected client needs and market drivers.

Develops and fosters positive client relationships.

Builds external network with client and industry counterparts.

Leads the business development, marketing and proposal development functions and activities.

Leads the development and qualification of the sales pipeline and prioritizes opportunities for Go/No Go decisions.

Ensures execution compliance of proposals.

Leads team to win and negotiate quality revenue-generating work.

Supports community and business organization involvement that supports business objectives.

Establishes a strategic partner list and develops teams, partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures for market differentiation and growth.

Coordinates and manages marketing and branding strategy.

Identifies and attracts staff for strategic roles.

Conducts a weekly opportunity update call to review and advance positioning.

Tracks sales metrics.

Leads designated proposal efforts as assigned.

Participates in the development of the Annual Business/Strategic Plan Planning process.

Develops strategic partnerships with subcontractors to leverage into and grow the business.

Works in close conjunction with Operations at opportunity identification and sales efforts to achieve revenue goals, competitive pricing, including positioning and persuasion, negotiations.

Leadership
Supports strategic planning and annual business planning process.

Significantly influences business group, functional or regional business development strategy.

Ensures linkage of marketing and communication core competencies (i.e., branding, public relations, community relations, media, etc.), sales opportunities, and ongoing projects.

Identifies and leads business development activities.

Coaches, mentors, and retains staff.

Develops, implements, and ensures succession plan for business development group.

Promotes and endorses quality management processes.

Ensures health and safety policies and procedures, and addresses issues.

Innovation/Problem Solving
Identifies, develops, and launches new business ventures, programs, and initiatives.

Identifies innovative approaches and strategies to leverage industry best practices.

Applies conceptual theory in developing solutions for new situations that impact BD operations success.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a field of study relevant to this position (engineering, environmental science, business, marketing, etc.).

Minimum ten years of experience in BD or related field (Program Management, Business Ventures, planning, and execution etc.) with successful management of sales organizations, proposals and strategy development and implementation.

Knowledge and understanding of FAR procurement.

Knowledge and experience with diverse markets associated with federal and commercial Natural and Cultural Resources, Environmental Remediation, Environmental Compliance markets.
