Job Purpose:
The Director of Sales – West is responsible for leading a sales team, managing a broker group and delivering monthly and quarterly revenue / profitability goals. They must have vast experience and proven success in leading a high performance, multi-level consumer packaged goods sales organization. This highly motivated director will give direction, training, and feedback to sales management staff.
What You’ll Do:
- Accountable for accurate sales forecasting and delivering on regular monthly, and quarterly revenue targets.
- Responsible for timely and thorough CRM (Salesforce) detailed information and forecasting from area of responsibility.
- Ability to build a positive culture while exceeding organizational growth and profitability goals.
- Create, and execute, a dynamic sales strategy with the ability to train and coach that strategy to all team members.
- Manage, support and cultivate the development and growth of the team and broker network.
- Respond swiftly, thoroughly and effectively to customer crises to assure satisfactory resolution.
- Conduct regularly scheduled reviews with the company’s sales SVP to discuss in-depth account reports, new opportunities, customer problems, competitive landscape, pricing, promotional insights, industry swings, and new product information.
- Act as the point-person for all departments when regional sales-related issues arise.
- Leverage selling prices and approve deviations.
- Support and assist in the implementation of all company policies.
- Lead monthly broker meetings and conference calls to maximize revenue, distribution, merchandising and promotional objectives.
- Analyze and present consumption and market data key insights to customers, distributors, brokers and Sentia Partners.
- Budget new and existing business by customer, item, month, quarter and annual periods.
- Travel and be hands on in the management of objectives to customers, distributors and brokers.
- Lead team to maximize total distribution points, merchandising display placements, space management objectives and first to market new item launches.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years’ sales experience in consumer-packaged goods.
- At least 3 years of proven success at a management level.
- Ability to develop and manage a strategic and comprehensive business plan for the assigned territory.
- Experience in managing a sales team in a fast-paced, high activity/volume outbound selling environment.
- Experience with conventional grocery, broker management and natural foods retailers in region – working at corporate headquarters buyers and store level.
- Ability to travel up to 50% and work some trade shows that might fall on a weekend.
- Knowledge of how to use metrics and data as a way to support effective sales behavior.
- Motivated by success and able to motivate your team members at all levels.
- Adept at setting and driving strategic initiatives in the functional area.
- Passion for delivering value to the customer, maximizing their success.
- Ability to remain focused and flexible during rapid change.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build presentations in PowerPoint and/or Key Notes, excel, word, Salesforce, etc.
- Hardworking with a dynamic personality.
- Experience in forecasting, budgeting, pricing, and inventory management a must.
- Transparent, dependable and trustworthy with all employees and clients.
