– Administration Category: Academic Professional Location: UI Health Close Date: 03/02/2020 Description: This position is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to strengthen the quality and operations of the front-line revenue management staff, function and services.
Responsible for building positive patient experiences and outcomes related to patient access.
In addition, this position is responsible for reporting metrics and maintaining departmental performance targets and benchmarks, developing policies and procedures, training programs and customer service activities.
Duties: Provide direction, leadership and oversight to front-end revenue management and patient access staff for the FQHC enterprise including out-patient pre-registration, financial counseling and call center services.
Develop matrix to measure performance outcomes, auditing and compliance activities.
Plan, develop and administer policy and operating procedures for registering patients and front-end functions including collection and analysis of registration and financial related data, and developing, managing and actively directing day-end closing and reconciliation procedures.
Analyze, evaluate and improve processes to meet or exceed industry standard benchmark performance such as registration denials, accuracy of registration data, registration completed per work hour, percentage of pre-registrations completed, cash collections and other key indicators.
Interpret and implement complex rules and regulations governing the FQHC environment, third party payers involving Medicare, Illinois and out-of-state Medicaid, Blue Cross, commercial carriers and other payers.
Identify and implement performance and workflow improvements to maximize patient throughput and cost efficiencies while complying with organizational policies and Federal and State regulations.
Prepare and oversee operating budgets in accordance with Mile Square Health Center policies and procedures.
Collaborate with other key leadership staff within the FQHC enterprise to improve the efficiency and overall customer satisfaction.
Staff Management Hire, train, develop and review work of staff to ensure that health center goals and objectives are met.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of seven years’ managerial experience as a Director, Assistant Director or Senior Manager in Patient Access, Scheduling or a related field in a hospital or large ambulatory clinic setting.
Master’s degree in Business Administration and/or Certification in the Healthcare Financial Management Association (CHFP, FHFMA) is preferred.
Experience in an Academic Medical Center is preferred.
Experience in a Provider Based clinic setting is preferred, experience with Excel and report writing required.
Demonstrated ability to manage Patient Access services in an acute care hospital and provider based clinic.
Demonstrated ability to supervise staff responsible for various aspects of the revenue cycle including registration, scheduling, point of service revenue capture and related activities.
Current knowledge of Patient Access related regulations and compliance issues of third-party payers.
Knowledge of and experience with systems in the management of Patient Access services.
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with diverse groups of people which include physicians, clinicians, office managers, administrators, third-party payers, and employees.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, communicating thoughts and ideas effectively.
Strong problem-solving skills initiative and resourcefulness in problem identification and problem solving.
Ability to lead people, set goals and coach staff in the achievement of goals.
