Director of Freight Brokerage Sales

Director of Freight Brokerage Sales Job Description: This Director of Freight Brokerage Sales position will be responsible for driving revenue and profitability while managing the sales team and will assume full responsibility for the performance of the brokerage sales division. This role will be responsible for growing the customer base by maintaining and generating new business. This individual will also create and maintain a high-performing sales system and culture that will contribute to significant growth. This role will be a key member of the leadership team.

Director of Freight Brokerage Sales Responsibilities:

  • Lead the brokerage division’s sales process.
  • Achieve or exceed assigned sales goals including providing progress to goals to leadership.
  • Set monthly, quarterly and yearly KPI goals based on volume, revenue, and gross margin growth for each customer.
  • Generate and identify new sales opportunities through research, analysis, and discovery.
  • Identify opportunities and gaps within the customer’s logistics and transportation needs.
  • Manage the proposal process from lead generation to successful close.
  • Participate in face-to-face meetings, presenting proposals and solutions, and closing business.
  • Establish and maintain relations with both internal and external customers.
  • Grow your book of business increasing volume, revenue, and gross margin from established and new customers.
  • Build sales strategies and work with marketing for leads.
  • Develop a pipeline of new prospects and convert them to customers by securing more volume via newly contracted bids and spot market lanes and growing overall gross margin.
  • Manage, coach and lead the sales staff.
  • Ensure monthly sales targets are met.
  • Review sales activities and prospective customers with management to ensure alignment with company strategy in forecasting, business plans and pipeline development.
  • Maintain an accurate buy cycle funnel of suspects, prospects, customers and overall opportunities.
  • Handle strategic negotiations and discuss pricing with customers for all modes of transportation.
  • Manage conflicts, issues, and navigate difficult conversations with customers.

Director of Freight Brokerage Sales Experience:

  • 6+ years minimum brokerage sales experience.
  • 2+ years of previous leadership/management experience.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the trucking and transportation brokerage industry.
  • Ability to multitask and to manage several tasks at once.
  • Proficient computer skills, including high level working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Director of Freight Brokerage Sales Compensation Details: This position offers a competitive base salary plus commission.
