**Director, NPI Portfolio & Program Management****Location** : US
– RemoteOur BioProduction team supports developers and manufacturers of biological-based therapeutics and vaccines with a portfolio of premium solutions and services focused on upstream cell culture, downstream purification, analytics for detection and quantitation of process/product impurities, and a suite of single-use solutions spanning the biologics workflow.
BioProduction is also at the forefront of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.**Position Summary**Director’s responsibility is three-fold:+ Partners with Business Unit (BU) product management, R&D, and marketing leadership to develop the portfolio strategy & annual plan, focusing on R&D utilization.
Leads regular review of the portfolio with BU leadership team, drives prioritization, status updates and revenue reporting for all BU New-Product-Introduction (NPI) programs.+ Ensures best practices of Program Management are followed by all NPI teams in the BU, with the goal of not only delivering products of high quality and value to the organization but also of delivering them within the agreed-upon metrics of schedule, resources, budget, and scope.+ Functionally manages a team of program managers who lead NPI programs within the division.**Portfolio Management:**+ Partners with BU leadership to integrate multiple segments into a cohesive BU strategy and annual plans, focusing on R&D utilization, in alignment with divisional strategy.
Facilitates creation and implementation of an NPI portfolio roadmap, aligned with BU strategy.+ Leads regular review of NPI portfolio with BU leadership team, drives prioritization and reports on status & revenue of all BU NPI programs, in coordination with segment portfolio managers.+ Sits on BU leadership team and contributes to divisional monthly business reviews (MBR) to represent Portfolio & Program Management (PPM) organization.+ Identifies resource bottlenecks that may be negatively impacting new product development programs and works with extended leadership team to address shorter and longer-term.**Program Management:**+ Leads critical BU NPI programs from initiation through commercial launch.
Acts as a program champion and leads a cross-functional team to identify and mitigate program risks, in order to successfully deliver all program deliverables.
Solve problems and manage crises effectively and independently.
Acts as an information conduit between core team and leadership; prepares and presents program reviews to PAC as a core team representative.+ Mentors others leading NPI programs in the BU, providing them with high-level BU context & guidance.
Provides feedback to functional manager regarding program manager performance in BU NPI programs.+ Provides feedback to R&D leadership about NPI process improvements.
Sponsors change initiatives & build best practices regarding program management & product development in the division.**Functional Management:**+ Communicates standards of portfolio & program management role and responsibility, relative to grade level.
Provides feedback & coaching on performance, as well as creation of personal development plans to improve skills set.+ Assigns program management resources, in partnership with BU portfolio managers+ Hires new program management talent**Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:**+ Bachelor’s degree (B.
S.
or B.A.), preferred in the Life Sciences, from four-year college or university+ 10+ years’ combined product development and project management experience, of which a portion must be in the life sciences+ 4 or more years’ experience managing an NPI portfolio.**Skills and Attributes:**+ Outstanding communication skills both written and verbal+ Ability to work without significant direction and is able to recommend modifications to the overall direction of portfolio or program in order to meet BU goals+ Works on complex, multi-faceted problems where analysis may require in-depth analysis, as well as imagination+ Interacts and builds effective relationships with core and extended team members, functional managers, senior management, and customers.
