Role Overview

The Director, Talent Development oversees all global learning activities at Wunderman Thompson.

The person assesses company-wide developmental needs and identifies and arranges innovative and impactful learning solutions.

This position actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective learning methods to educate, enhance performance, and improve retention.

The person ensures alignment with strategic business objectives, maintains high quality standards of learner engagement, and evaluates impact through performance metrics.

This role will report to the Global Head of Talent & Organizational Development and ideally will be located in New York or London. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, continuous improvement, and execution of a comprehensive learning curriculum.
  • Bring thought leadership to create next generation learning that is innovative, challenges the status quo, and influences the learning industry at large.
  • Create and manage employee curriculum journeys across WT using various formats (e.g., instructor led, simulations, games, videos, podcasts, email, text msgs, app-based learning)
  • Apply latest advances in technology to learning development and delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define learning needs and deploy solutions.
  • Ensure strategic alignment of training and development with business goals.
  • Curate content and connect learners to internal and external experts.
  • Integrate learning opportunities throughout the employee journey
  • Establish and maintain metrics to evaluate learning impact.
  • Oversee the growth and strengthening of the global learning community.
  • Organize and market content in a clear and compelling way.
  • Manage learning vendors and budget.
  • Oversee various existing WT programs (e.g., Manager Blueprint, High Potential Program, Orchestrate for Account Management).
  • Coordinate with WPP Learning to promote WPP offerings throughout Wunderman Thompson.
  • Oversee and continuously improve the WT Learning Management System

Capabilities/ Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of learning development or related experience.
  • A modern and innovative approach to learning.
  • Identification and implementation of the latest learning technology.
  • Strategic, operational, and project management skills
  • Stakeholder management, building relationships and earning trust from HR business partners, internal and external subject matter experts, learning partners and business leaders.

  • Is self-aware and learns continuously
  • Motivated – goes above and beyond to achieve goals
  • A balance of speed and quality, understanding that high-quality work will require multiple iterations and feedback from stakeholders.
