Job Summary
Oversees and directs departmental activities to ensure quality Environmental Services for both internal and external customers.
Serves as a resource to and collaborates with others to advance the Health System mission.
Plans, programs, and directs all environmental services functions Ensures compliance with licensure and regulatory requirements.
Responsible for the talent and culture of the Facilities team, promoting collaboration, and transparency.
- Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Engineering, Construction, or equivalent work experience
- Driver’s License Valid in the State of Florida with good driving record required
- Completion of DOT training Within 30 days of hire and every 3 years thereafter
- 7-10 years Experience in Environmental Services functions, facilities, or healthcare
- 4-7 years Supervisory/management experience
- Experience related to codes and requirements of regulatory and accreditation agencies
- Analytical experience to prepare and administer budgets; evaluate current methods of delivering service.
Management experience in operating and capital budget planning.
Qualifications
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluates, develops, and implements departmental policies and procedures, responsible for goals and objectives, and standards of work performance for Environmental Services function.
Monitors and confirms these processes are completed in compliance with codes, laws, standards, and customer expectations.
- Effectively works with executive leadership to determine company needs and to define strategic plans.
- Maintains a high level of Patient Satisfaction with the cleanliness of the hospital as measured in our patient satisfaction scores.
- Coordinates and assures compliance with all National Accreditation and Deeming Authorities, CMS, State, and other regulatory agencies including all inspections, maintenance, polices, and documentation.
Ensures policies and procedures are in place and being followed for compliance.
- Directs TM&E activities to include staffing, productivity, recruitment, performance evaluation, staff development, training, and orientation to ensure operational needs and compliance with established policies and procedures and regulatory agencies.
Maintains a high level of employee commitment as measured through periodic employee surveys.
Approves time cards and maintains department staff files.
- Manages department staff under his/her supervision and develops and maintains a department staffing plan that meets operational requirements.
Establishes and enforces service standards and provides training as needed to support the customer service program goals.
- Represents Environmental Services in construction and design of new or renovated spaces.
Providing guidance and input as necessary.
- Plans, develops, and participates in departmental training and orientation programs; evaluates the effectiveness of the programs and adjusts and modifies as necessary.
- Manages inventory and storage of materials, parts, and equipment; provides for material issuance and requisitioning and maintains adequate supply levels.
- Responsible for selection and coordination of all contractors.
Ensures contractual provisions and construction schedules are met and satisfy established standards of Health System policy and regulations and codes.
Ensures all contractors personnel are identified and follows the process for SharePoint tracking of the contractors as per TM&E.
- Develops annual operating budget to include personnel, equipment, materials, and supply needs.
Monitors budget after adoption.
Develops capital budget recommendations related to department needs.
Prepares and presents various statistical and operating reports including monitoring and monthly reports of usage and cost.
- Evaluates department operational processes by recommending and implementing process improvement initiatives to reduce cost and improve response time.
- Oversees the development, review, approval, and implementation of department policies and procedures on safety, risk management, infection control, and other standards while assuring compliance with all regulatory/enforcement agencies.
- Oversees the planning, organization, and management of the overall floor conditions and projects.
Maintains all departments informed on a timely basis of projects that will impact the daily operations.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to communicate verbally in Spanish preferred.
- Organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to interpret, adapt to, and react calmly under stressful conditions.
- Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with both internal and external customers, peers, and other Health System personnel.
- Ability to use logical and analytical thinking to interpret technical data and solve a broad range of problems.
- Ability to learn appropriate software applications.
- Knowledge of LEAN methodology, Six Sigma and/or ISO 9001.
- Able to effectively monitor and develop the abilities of subordinates.
- Able to perform critical analysis of energy center issues.
Expert knowledge of regulatory requirements: National Accreditation and Deeming Authorities Environment of Care standards, AIA guidelines, NFPA, Life Safety, ACHA, Florida Building Codes, and other applicable industry or regulatory standards.
