General Description of Position:
The Director of Development & Training will be responsible for training and development programs to improve the effectiveness of the organization and the associates and teams within them.
This role will also be responsible for developing programs to expand the capacity of associates to perform in leadership roles within organizations including creating formal and informal training and professional development programs designed to assist associates in developing leadership skills.
Training and Development path strategy and creation for programs to include but not limited to corporate compliance training, competency training, industry, values and behaviors training and the full spectrum of Leadership Development programs from aspiring leaders through executive leadership.
Collaborates with functional management teams to assess ongoing and future training and development needs as well as effectiveness of established programs.
Develops a delivery schedule that provides training as needed and in locations /remotely that optimizes participation.
Provides engaging communications about program information to encourage participation and highlight the value and benefits of training.
Responsible for proposing and suggesting new training techniques and suggests enhancements to existing training programs.
Manages and develops training professionals.
Additionally, responsible for strategy and oversight of key partnerships and relationships (external vendors) and the corporate LMS (Learning Management System) platform.
Acts as a partner and collaborator regarding knowledge sharing with cross functional training departments enterprise wide.
Duties & Responsibilities:

- Proactively focuses on organizational capability and capacity; removes barriers to cross departmental collaboration; prioritizes work for highest impact
- Typically consults with executive team on more complex topics
- Serves as internal consultant to senior management and internal spokesperson for the department on critical projects or matters of company policy/practices
- Acts and operates as strategic consultant to the executive team, seen as an influencer, highly credible
- Must have the curiosity to ask questions, and the courage to persist in challenging management on how to find a better way – enables change for improvement
- Viewed by leadership, peers, and team as an active contributor
- Possess good business instincts and acumen, ability to get to the crux of an issue quickly
- Ability to adapt to ever changing business needs
- Strategic intent – the ability to use insight and analyze, understand, and develop simple and clear solutions that solve problems

- Serves as member of the strategic HR counsel meeting with SVPs and top executives on strategy – reviews HR needs, discussed priorities & key initiatives, ensures support aligned to strategy and discusses human capital data to enable organizational success
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the effective operation of the department and the Company
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Proven long-standing performance track record in leadership role
- 10 or more years of progressive experience in setting and driving strategy for talent development, training programs, and leadership development programs
- Familiar with a broad set of learning modalities
- Ability to both develop custom programs and facilitate known national programs/offerings (certified instructor of leadership development programs)
- Proficiency in creating and implementing development and training programs and processes, and analyzing data to assess strategies
- Must possess the ability to work independently while exercising proper judgment and sound decision making
- Must be disciplined, hardworking, and dependable
- Must possess the ability to influence and maintain the relationship with others
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills for the effective working relationship
- Must have the ability to set priorities and effectively manage multiple assignments in a flexible environment
- Must possess the ability to maintain sensitive data in a confidential manner
- Proficient with MS office suite and HRIS platforms
- Must be compassionate and empathetic to portray the “human” in Human Resources
