Director, Commodity Management lead all aspects associated with negotiation, acquisition, and management of goods and services for Vertiv Digital Solutions.
The Director, Commodity Management leads a team of six (3 direct and 3 matrixed) sourcing and contract management professionals to execute and deliver contracts in support of IT projects and purchases.
Director, Commodity Management is responsible for developing, aligning and implementing standard work, tools and templates to support the IT procurement process at Vertiv.
Responsibilities:
• Works closely with the business leaders within Vertiv to source partners ( for $200M of digital hardware, software, and consulting services).
• Collaborates with the business to drive partner compliance with measures, and regulations pertaining to the protection of data.
• Manages the preferred supplier program with a “plan for every partner” to ensure business continuity, performance and best price
• Directs cross-functional teams using analysis of historical spend data, market research and cost modeling to identify and leverage high value opportunities that deliver innovative and sustainable value, operational efficiencies, and risk mitigation to the business
• Establishes total landed cost model and/or Total Cost of Ownership Model for the category, in alignment with stakeholders
• Develops and implements sourcing, negotiating and contracting strategies to achieve the desired outcomes aligned with the Category Strategy for global indirect procurement categories Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Business, Supply Chain, or similar field of study.
Requirements:
• 10 years of experience in Strategic Sourcing, with Indirect Category experience preferably in Information Technology Hardware, Telecommunications and Consulting.
• 10 years of experience leading and managing people with the demonstrated ability to develop talent.
• Supplier performance management experience.
• A strong business acumen.
• Developmental goals in line with succession to the Vice President level and beyond.
• Ability to interact with all levels within the organization.
• Ability to work within a matrix management environment.
• Working knowledge and proven application of the principles and philosophies of Continuous Improvement.
• Ability to understand customer / client issues and creatively apply solutions to real-world issues with world-class results.
