Director, Category Management reports to VP, Strategy & Procurement, N&P.
This position is located in Loveland, Colorado is not available for remote work.
What you will do:
• Lead the category management team comprised of four category managers with $1.5-2B of spend under management across 20 Nutrien Nitrogen and Phosphate sites in North America & Trinidad & Tobago
• Drive category management priorities and value delivery, initial set of priorities will be linked to the functional transformation underway
• Drive for total cost of ownership (TCO) improvements, security of supply and operational excellence across Nutrien’s N&P categories, which are mostly services, both technical and support
• Ensure category strategies are consistent with the strategies of the company and the function, and ensure quality of planning and execution within each category
• Manage relationships with key strategic suppliers and operational stakeholders across Nutrien, driving for performance and TCO improvements
• Support category managers and ensure development and execution of strategic plans, such that sourcing strategies are developed that support the operational goals established by internal users, opportunities to improve TCO are identified using both technical and commercial levers and sourcing strategies integrate the strategy of Nutrien, Nitrogen and Phosphate BUs and the procurement function
• Support efforts of the functional transformation through planning, strategic guidance, value delivery, relationship management with N&P senior operations stakeholders and ensuring delivery of commercial objectives
• Ensure quality of tender and negotiation practices.
Enforce rigor in use of bast practices along planned processes
• Support category managers in negotiation to select suppliers and award processes.
Lead senior negotiations across categories
• Support category managers in working with the COE in process and data improvement projects, the adoption of analytical tools, as well as the definition of analytical needs
• Manage the strategic relationship with suppliers in coordination with the area of excellence and ensure the correct performance of suppliers in the category, solving conflicts arising in the commercial relationship
• Ensure internal customer satisfaction based on agreed service levels throughout the strategic sourcing process
• Identify and implement improvements to the long-term operating model of category management based on best practices and evolving business requirements
• Perform integrated category strategies and associated strategic initiatives
• Conduct measured TCO reduction including as a result of the functional transformation underway, in the immediate term. Year-over-year value delivery, go-forward
• Perform integrated corrective and risk mitigation plans according to Performance Indicators across categories
• Capability-Building in strategic team, and evolving function’s operating model (e.g.
use of data and analytics, engagement with Operations, value identification and capture, functional efficiency, etc.)
• Coordinate and maintain a service agreement with the COE
What you will bring:
• Extensive experience in strategic or similar sourcing, or experience in maintenance operations management, administrative services, supply chain
• A professional degree in business, engineering or related matters required; strategic sourcing knowledge in technical or administrative categories with relevant delivery of impact focused on TCO
• Excellent analytical skills, ability to synthesize and identify solutions to Operational problems with the low cost to ownership
• Ability to analyze processes in user areas, preferably knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
• Ability to lead and manage a team and coordinate with senior executives across the business
• Proven ability to derive insights from market indicators and map them to category strategies, as well as how macro trends could affect the organizations sourcing strategy
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with a high attention to detail
• Ability to work independently on unstructured deliverables in a multi-task, deadline orientated dynamic team environment
• Excellent ability to relate to suppliers, managers and supervisors of Maintenance/Operations
• Excellent ability to handle tough challenges and negotiations
• Able to work with multiple sources of leadership
• Empathy and relational skills for teamwork
• Proactive and continuous search for change and improvement
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Range $120,00
– $172,000. This range is estimated for Director, Category Management in Loveland, Colorado.
Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.

In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan and long-term incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our plan(s), which provide discretionary award opportunities reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee.
