Purpose The Business Development Professional will work both independently and with existing sales and customer care professionals to create business opportunities to expand current business lines and to create new business opportunities in the regulated and unregulated utility environment with a primary focus on water, wastewater, and natural gas utilities.
He or she will identify and recommend new products, services and businesses including enhancements of existing offerings to improve the overall profitability, earnings and strategic positioning of the Company in its businesses as well as the Company’s efforts around renewable natural gas, compressed natural gas (CNG), and other sustainability initiatives.
The candidate will have as a focus the growth of Liberty’s business through the acquisition of small ( Accountabilities Manage and direct the roll-out of new business and growth projects and the development of new business opportunities in both gas, electric, water, and wastewater utility sectors with a particular emphasis on water, wastewater, and natural gas utilities.
Networking with municipalities, business councils, chambers of commerce, etc.
to develop prospects Monitoring Industry Trends Regarding New Business or Products Working with the Company’s sales team to identify opportunities within the current customer base Developing the appropriate documentation to support conclusions (financial, technical, regulatory, and legal) Developing presentation material necessary to gain approval of new businesses or products Responsible for due diligence needed to support business development efforts (market research, needs assessment, detailed financial analysis of revenues and expenses, etc.) and provide educated conclusions and recommendations regarding potential new product and service offerings Consult with customers, corporate staff, consultants (as needed) and stakeholders in evaluating the profitability of new businesses or products; identify partnerships, alliances or strategic relationships that can add to the development effort Creating methodologies for identifying new customers using marketing material and/or databases Education and Experience Bachelors degree or equivalent 10 years of related business development experiences Knowledge of water, wastewater, and gas infrastructure, including supply, storage, transportation, transmission, generation, and capacity Knowledge of regulatory policies applicable to electric, water, and natural gas sectors LI-DS1 Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp.
