Alpha Media – Portland is seeking an experienced Content Director for Portland, OR News/Talk 101.1 KXL, 750 KXTG – The Game and 970 AM KUFO – Freedom, and for a corporate executive with involvement of key talk talent, and stations.
We’re looking for someone with experience programming winning news/talk, talk, and sports stations that thrive with content and entertainment in the digital world.
The ideal candidate must possess an extremely good work ethic, be a self-starter who is highly organized with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and have strong leadership skills.
Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, Alpha Media owns or operates over 200 live broadcast radio stations and digital properties covering all formats serving 44 markets across the United States.
In addition to our over-the-air broadcasts, Alpha audio products can be heard across multiple platforms, including all major smart devices.
Strong relationships with our listeners and clients in the communities where we live and work keep Alpha Media true to its local-first heritage.
Responsibilities for this position may include:
Coach and develop a team of first-class on-air professionals and Content Directors.
Plan, strategize and oversee all on-air programming, digital and social assets, and production for the station.
Provide leadership and oversight for direct reports, including guidance and identifying development opportunities.
Collaborate with sales, marketing, and promotions to create brand-appropriate content to drive digital audience, fan engagement, and revenue.
Develop broadcast and digital strategies that will strengthen the presence of station brands.
Analyze ratings and market research to grow the audience base, identify market risks and opportunities in order to improve ratings, and grow brands.
Inspire and direct talent, both on-air and off, to expand their show digitally and socially.
Creatively use digital properties to grow terrestrial audiences.
Write, develop, and execute station promotions.
Direct and monitor station programming and activities in conformance with FCC rules and regulations, company policy, and applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Knowledge of all FCC rules and regulations.

Understanding of the market, listeners, and competitors to drive optimum ratings growth.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Successful and proven track record.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred requirements of this position may include the following:
Knowledge of Google GSuite products and Microsoft.
Strong understanding of Wide Orbit Radio Automation, NewsBoss Newsroom Automation, and vCreative.
Strong understanding of Adobe Audition and Photoshop.
