n n nNew York, NYn nn Full Time nn nn BE or BC nn nn Consultation/Liaison Psychiatry Division Director, Department of Psychiatry, Long Island Jewish Medical Center of Northwell Health nn nn The Department of Psychiatry at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (LIJMC)/Northwell Health is seeking a forward-thinking Division Director with excellent clinical, administrative and academic skills to lead its Consultation/Liaison (C/L) Psychiatry Division. nn nnThe C/L Psychiatry Division, and its six full-time psychiatrists and two nurse practitioners, serves two hospitals within LIJMC: (1) Long Island Jewish Hospital (a 580-bed medical-surgical hospital that anchors the three-hospital complex that comprises the main LIJMC New Hyde Park campus and also includes Cohen Children’s Medical Center (a 202-bed pediatric hospital) and The Zucker Hillside Hospital (a 230-bed psychiatric hospital)) and (2) Long Island Jewish Hospital – Valley Stream (a 284-bed community hospital located approximately 8 miles away).

An innovative tele-psychiatry C/L functionality to LIJ-Valley Stream is being implemented shortly.

The team also is initiating an outpatient role at Northwell’s HIV Center, with an additional tele-psychiatry component.nn nnA major training site for The Zucker Hillside psychiatry residents, the C/L Division also operates a highly-regarded ACGME-accredited fellowship program in collaboration with our sister Northwell facility, North Shore University Hospital.

The fellowship includes a unique perinatal psychiatry track in partnership with the Department’s Women’s Behavioral Health program.

The service is also a training site for geriatric psychiatry fellows, medical students and NP students from our medical school (The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell) and graduate studies nursing school.nn nnFormative cross-departmental relationships are ongoing or developing with Northwell’s new Oncology Institute, transplant programs, OB-GYN and Cardiology departments, and emerging Collaborative Care (integration of behavioral health and primary care) initiatives; with opportunities for further expansion in these and other programs.

nn nnDivision Director responsibilities include operational oversight of the C/L service and training programs, quality and performance monitoring and improvement, continued inculcation of a clinical culture adherent to evidence-based practices that increasingly employs measurement-driven and data-informed outcome/assessment processes, some clinical service, and an administrative/academic time allocation.
