Consultant – Employee Benefits (Mid – Market 50 – 400) – Seattle, WA

TRUEbenefits , an Alera Group Company is seeking a Consultant to join our Employee Benefits team TRUEbenefits provides practical, forward-looking and cost-effective employee benefit consulting services for leading Northwest employers.

This client-facing position is responsible for managing and retaining an assigned book of Health & Welfare clients.

Consultant is expected to have thorough knowledge of group insurance coverages including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability, have a thorough understanding of the financial and insurance arrangements available for these coverages, and be fluent in the various types of third-party administration services our clients might need.

Finally, Consultant should be able to provide compliance education and strategic guidance around risk management and benefits administration.

Responsibilities Benefit Account Management Consultant is responsible for the management of their clients’ benefit programs, including design, strategy alignment, renewals, periodic check-ins, and overall impression of TRUEbenefits.

An important element to this is managing annual milestones around the renewal date of the client’s contracts and agreements with their respective vendors.

Consultant is the responsible and accountable party to ensure each client’s needs are met but will work with other team members as their individual roles dictate .

Client Relations Consultant is responsible for maintaining the overall relationship with assigned clients.

This should be done in a professional fashion with unquestionable integrity and dedication to excellence.

Some client accounts may also have a Partner/Producer assigned.

Other Responsibilities Manage communications for major, account level-changes to clients.

Provide guidance on wellness communications and manage issues with ongoing programs.

Gather data needed to market medical plans, obtain quotes, and prepare spreadsheet analysis.

Act as a liaison with our carrier partners to ensure accuracy of carrier contracts.

Become proficient in all plans and products in the assigned book of business and be an internal resource.

Develop, modify, and finalize professional sales presentations, written communications, and other documents.

Partner with other teams to ensure client needs are met and that actions are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements Education & Experience: Developing the competencies above typically involves formal education and real-world experience.

At minimum, 6-8 years of account management or client service/relationship management experience is required.

A bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Certificates & Licensure: Applicable state life & disability insurance producer license is required and must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Relevant certifications, such as Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Registered Health Underwriter (RHU), or NAHU Certifications, are preferred.

Other Requirements: Because of frequent travel by vehicle to H&W client sites and access to sensitive client information, we require you have a valid driver’s license and pass a background check.

Work Environment & Physical Demands Performing the duties of this job will include working in an office cubicle environment; this may require sitting, typing, and talking/listening on a telephone for long periods of time.

The employee will need to bend, lift, get in/out of vehicles, operate a range of office equipment, and carry packet paperwork up to 15 lbs.

Advisors must be able to travel to client meetings, usually with the use of a personal vehicle but occasionally by air as business demands.

It is estimated that 60% of time will be spent in the office; 40% of time will be travel.
