Communications Manager, Engineering

This is a Full-time position in Atlanta, GA posted November 22, 2021.

Cox Communications is searching for an Engineering Communications Manager who will be accountable for the strategy and execution of communications that drive the Engineering strategic outcomes and support company objectives.

You will be responsible to support the Field Engineering & Operations team.

The work ensures linkage to overall Engineering communication strategy and partners on comms, employee engagement efforts, change management through an integrated communications concept to achieve key strategic priorities for Engineering.

You will partner with the Internal Business Communications, Product Communications, Internal Digital Communications and Cox Enterprises Internal Communications teams along with senior leadership team to ensure the company-wide narrative is integrated into all communications channels for Engineering.

You will work closely and report to the Executive Director of Engineering Enablement on an integrated communications strategy that ensures employees understand the key strategic priorities in Engineering and how they contribute to our success.

You will also collaborate with communications leaders at Cox Enterprises and other divisions to ensure the enterprise-wide communications strategy is consistent across Engineering where applicable.

You will counsel senior executive leaders on strategic communications to ensure ongoing employee engagement, retention and morale.

You are the communications subject matter expert that contributes to broader goals the department.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
• Responsible for communicating broad company goals and objectives and driving engagement with achieving company goals.
• Supports the senior executive leadership with meeting presentations and internal speaking opportunities such as all hands, town halls, site visits, videos, emails, and intranet communications.

• Collaborates with internal communications peers at Cox Enterprises and other divisions for enterprise communications initiatives as the Engineering representative.

• Advises senior executive leadership on communications priorities, channels and frequency for company
– and enterprise-wide priorities and initiatives, including investments in people programs and teams who support enterprise-wide functions and initiatives.

• Advises functions and support staff on best practices and appropriate communication methods to align with our purpose, our values and our brand.

• Partners with leaders and public affairs teams to develop and execute business-focused, comprehensive, multi-channel communication strategy, utilizing online, face-to-face, virtual and print resources targeted to specific audiences.
• Directs, manages, and supports the launch of new communications related initiatives, tools, and programs; maintains and improves existing programs.

• Develops strong business partnerships with leaders to understand company goals, activities, and key priorities; identifies gaps in communication plans and provides data driven recommendations for solutions.

• Advises senior management on frequency, level, and most effective methods of communication for the targeted audience.

• Promotes and expands the level of influence of the communications holistic approach in Engineering.

• Stays engaged with the industry; remains well-informed and knowledgeable about the current trends, methods, best practices, and advances in innovative technologies and tools for communication.

• Manages vendor relationships and contract labor as necessary.
• Develops and manages communication budgets; ensures projects are on time and on budget
• Ensures that communication is efficient, effective and supports the company-wide communications strategy.

Qualifications:

Minimum:
• Where permitted by applicable law, must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to be considered for this U.S.

based job.

• 7-10 or more years of experience required in communications or related field
• Experience working with all levels of the organization, particularly senior-level executives in consultative communications strategy and planning with a focus on employee communications.
• Strong writing and editing skills, ability to adapt communication to different target audiences.

• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation and collaborative skills to work effectively with leadership and teams across the organization
• Requires high level of discretion and confidentiality; ability to deal with ambiguity and influencing without direct authority
• Experience in strategy, planning and delivery of internal communication campaigns and management
• Strong ability to execute and manage projects and details
• Demonstrates strong awareness of business and organization sensitivity and adapts communication accordingly
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and exhibit professionalism under pressure with the appropriate level of emotional intelligence
• Strong-problem solving skills, team-oriented with interest in learning and using new technologies and approaches
• Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
Preferred
• BS/BA degree in journalism or communications related discipline and/or MBA
• 3 or more years of experience in a management role or leading cross functional projects or external vendor/agencies
• Experience in Engineering, telecommunications industry
• Experience in technology, social media, event management/production experience
