Together, were working at the pace of change on diagnostic tools that address the worlds biggest health challenges, driven by knowing that behind every test there is a patient waiting.Learn about the Danaher Business System which makes everything possible.The Principal Manufacturing Engineer will report to the VP, Biochip Operations and will act as a technical lead in semiconductor operations inclusive of wet processing, wafer probe, wafer saw, quality control inspections, pick & place processes, packaging/interconnect, and other related backend processes.

The role involves extensive collaboration with other internal cross-functional teams to design experiments testing novel semiconductor manufacturing methods, evaluate new materials and develop tests to ensure functional requirements are met, manufacturability is designed into the process, and yield is optimized.

This position is part of the Biochip R& D Business Unit and willbe located in Sunnyvale, CA.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:Define, design, develop and maintain semiconductor wafer post-fabrication process flows and support new product introductions in an operations environment.Closely collaborate with Chemistry team to define, optimize, and integrate manufacturability and yield improvements to new and existing processes.Regularly conduct extensive post-fabrication process development and failure analysis.Integrate various processes and develop post-fabrication flows for new III-V laser diode products.Define, specify, develop, and qualify new semiconductor processing equipment including management of capital expense budget.Implement new proprietary wafer-level processes with emphasis on statistical process control (SPC).

Conduct process capability analysis, failure mode analysis, and SPC review for continuous design and process improvement.

The essential requirements of the job include:B.S./M.S.

in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related fieldsTwelve (12) or more years of experience in semiconductor industry (process engineering, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, etc.).Experience in the areas of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and related capability analyses, as well as Design of Experiments (DOE).

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:Skills and experience in the following areas are highly desirable: image sensors, optical filters, wafer coating processes, failure analysis, thermal design, reliability & qualification testing, through-silicon vias and other wafer-level interconnect technologies.
