DESCRIPTION: The Campaign Director will envision and execute an ambitious campaign to ensure timely global access to safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines, through U.S.
government leadership that increases vaccine manufacturing capacity and shares technology and knowledge with the world.
The Campaign Director will reach out to leading voices in politics, foreign relations and the faith community, cultivate relationships, engage major media and leverage the expertise of the access to medicines team to build establishment support for this critical idea.
The Campaign Director will work closely with the Access to Medicines Director and Public Citizen’s president.
Responsibilities: The Campaign Director’s responsibilities may include:
Devising an outreach plan, in consultation with the president and Access to Medicines Director, that will help global vaccine access and technology transfer be adopted as pillars of U.S.
government policy, Executing the plan, working with Public Citizen’s access to medicines and communications teams, Developing high-level contacts in key sectors, Publicizing Public Citizen reports on vaccine access and technology transfer, making use of opinion leaders and major media; writing or helping place opinion articles as needed, Fundraising in support of the vaccine access campaign, Speaking publicly on behalf of Public Citizen, Helping recruit and supervise staff and contractors, Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ideally candidates will demonstrate highly relevant:
Work Experience: Seven years of experience in public-facing policy, campaigning, media or similar work required.
Experience with Capitol Hill, faith communities or the foreign policy establishment a plus.
Management experience preferred.
Skills: Strong communications and strategic thinking skills required.
Knowledge: Familiarity with global development, foreign relations or health issues preferred.
Capabilities: Professionalism; discretion and good judgment; flexibility and ability to respond quickly to new developments; ability to envision project development; commitment to standing up to corporate power.

The Campaign Director will report to the Access to Medicines Director.
