Business Development Manager

Sabel Systems

This is a Contract position in Washington, DC posted September 14, 2021.

Job Summary: The Business Development Manager (BDM) role is accountable for achieving pipeline, sales, and business development efficiency results that meet or exceed assigned targets.

The BDM is responsible for identifying and engaging on strategic opportunities, developing new clients, and driving new capabilities into their target accounts.

The BDM is expected to continuously learn and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of Sabel’s offerings and services, contract vehicles and partners, and develop and maintain both industry and customer relationships that benefit Sabel.

The role includes an individual sales contributor target comprising pipeline qualification and sales achievement, as well as cross-organizational development contributions.

Responsibilities:Develop relationships with government leaders and director level executives of key agenciesGenerate opportunities, orchestrate the pursuit process and manage overall relationship buildingCoordinate relationship building activities with appropriate partners, engagement managers, subject-matter professionals, and Sabel personnel on the engagement team(s) to ensure they are well advised on important mattersMeet specific business relationship goals at assigned accounts and report and measure progress against quarterly goals with leadership and performance managerAssist with proposal development, focusing on key differentiators, and win themesManage business opportunities at assigned accounts to help ensure Sabel is positioned to capitalize on opportunities by providing solutions which meet the client’s needsPersonal / Team DevelopmentDemonstrates the Sabel Values through own behaviors; sets clear priorities and aligns all activities; sets/achieves high personal standards for performance/conductCommunicates effectively in all directions; creates team structure and process; encourages innovationRecognizes and celebrates accomplishment; helps the team lead and/or adapt to change; encourages teaming/networking across the companyManages a small team who are responsible for driving service lines within the solution area.Assists with defining project team requirements for projects within solution areaClient ManagementDemonstrates expertise in a functional, technical and/or industry specific area through comprehensive problem solvingMaintains a high level of functional/technical expertise and is expected to be an expert with all aspects of core competencies and methodologies and risk management as it relates to their field of expertise.Delivers timely and quality services or products that meet or exceed team manager’s and client’s expectationsDemonstrates high level of commitment to client success while responding to changes in client expectations; monitors and uses client feedbackKnowledgeable of critical success factors for the client and client’s industryBusiness DevelopmentProvides proposal inputs and technical approach informationAbility to positively represent the company to different clients and supports the marketing and promotion of solution area within and outside of organizationSupports sales and marketing activities for solution offeringCoordinate and maintain vendor relationships within the solution offeringRequirements:10 years’ experience in senior management capacityMinimum BS/BA in business administration or related field; master’s degree preferredStrong working knowledge of performance and operations managementFamiliarity with GovCon regulations and standardsSolid computer skills, including Microsoft Office and relational databases and softwareExceptional communication and public speaking skillsOutstanding leadership and organizational skillsCompetent collaborator and skilled cross-functional communicatorUS CitizenQualifications:Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated business development consulting experience including the management of government accounts and/orMinimum 10 years combined experience with any of the following: strategic capture, proposal development, solutions development, and/or costing and pricing.

And/orMinimum 5 years’ experience as a capture manager developing and leading multiple capture efforts that have won major Federal contracts totaling at least $100 million in the last 3 years.Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Business or a related field or equivalent experience Prior experience and background in sales with a Big 4 accounting firm or major consulting organizationAbility to demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills that have resulted in business relationships of trust, confidence, and resultsExperience developing and leading relationship building activities with executivesDemonstrated success in identifying, initiating, driving new or on-going business opportunitiesAbility to travel regularlyMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.Must be eligible to obtain U.S.

security clearance.Preferred: Business operations/management experience delivering technical or management consulting services or developing solutions for Federal clients is desired.Experience with successfully pursuing opportunities specific to Federal civil, health, and defense agencies involving large complex contracts strongly preferredMaster’s degree in business or technical field preferred.

Prior experience with structured Capture/Proposal Methodologies.
