Associate Director, US Sales Learning and Development, Metabolics

Position Summary

The Associate Director, US Sales Training & Development, will serve a critical role within Alexion’s Commercial organization in developing and ensuring all training content is consistent with the latest approved commercial strategy and clinical developments.

Qualified candidates should plan to lead the current approved clinical training content, as well as work to develop an enhanced training platform covering Wilson disease and other Metabolics indications.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver Wilson disease and other Metabolics indications curriculums in conjunction with the Therapeutic Area team
  • Manage external training vendors in the creation of training content
  • Create and execute role specific training for the US commercial organization
  • Create and execute selling skills content and training for the US field sales teams
  • Execute Clinical Excellence training for the US commercial leadership team
  • Update new-hire and advanced training resources for the US field sales organization and internal commercial teams 
  • Conduct new-hire and ongoing training classes for the Commercial Team and other internal Alexion RDBU colleagues
  • Add creative value to the training team based on career experiences in sales, training & leadership
  • Conduct field rides with members of field sales organization
  • Provide in-the-field coaching to supplement efforts of RSDs
  • Represent/navigate training initiatives as necessary through the medical/legal/regulatory approval process
  • Work cross functionally with Marketing, Legal, Compliance, Medical Affairs, Patient Services etc.

    to better understand market factors and develop new and revise subsequent training initiatives as needed

  • Measure outcomes of training initiatives and create plans for continuous process improvements
  • Responsible to support and enforce all policies, procedures, and governances
  • Report any Pharmacovigilance Adverse Event discussed during training

Essential Qualifications

  • B.A/B.S
  • Strong, consistent proven past sales performance
  • Successful sales and training experience in launching new drugs/indication
  • Knowledge of multiple physician types including Gastroenterologist, Neurologists, Endocrinologist
  • Ability to develop strong, professional relationships
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional environment as well as independently on a consistent basis
  • Travel required, up to 50% overnight travel
  • Boston based home office position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Business or scientific degree
  • 5 years sales experience in the biopharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Sales training experience in the biopharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Experience in specialty injectable/infusion market, including hospital selling, acute care and Pharmacy setting
