Associate Director/Director of Market Intelligence

(OYST: Nasdaq) is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of first-in-class pharmaceutical therapies to treat ocular surface diseases.

Headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey, with an anticipated satellite office in Boston, Massachusetts, Oyster Point filed its first New Drug Application in Q4’ 2020 with an anticipated product launch in Q4’ 2021.

Summary

The Associate Director/Director of Market Intelligence will lead and develop the Market Intelligence function for Oyster Point Pharma.

This role will be based in Boston, MA, report directly into the Vice President of Marketing.

The Associate Director/Director of Market Intelligence will lead primary market research, competitive intelligence, and integrated insights from other market sources such as ad boards and field input to ensure optimal assessment of market dynamics and product performance.

This individual can translate insights into action for the business, with deliberate and actionable measurement of impact, as well as capture results in a timely manner through disciplined project management.

We value a leader who can adapt to changing business and market dynamics as we work launch our first commercial product.

This role will closely collaborate with the Business Insights function to tie market intelligence with data metrics.

The Associate Director/Director of Market Intelligence will be an integral partner with the Marketing Team and broader commercial team.

This role will be critical to the successful growth of the company’s lead asset, OC-01, for the treatment of Dry Eye Disease.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build the market insights capabilities for Oyster Point Pharma including primary market research and competitive intelligence.
  • Define Market Research and Competitive Intelligence priorities in collaboration with commercial and brand partners to proactively address key business decisions.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative market research studies with physicians, patients, and other stakeholders to inform market and brand knowledge, strategies, campaign and tactical development, measure performance, and inform ROI of key tactics.
  • Conduct tracking and performance measurement market research studies to measure success of first product launch and provide insights that will further drive strategic and tactical planning inclusive of HCP, Consumer, Digital and CRM efforts.
  • Ensure organization is well informed of competitive strategies and activities with compliant competitive intelligence approaches.
  • Collaborate with Business Insights lead through providing assumptions driving Forecasting and Analytics.
  • Provide market updates that add important context to weekly launch metrics and monthly business reviews.
  • Collaborate with marketing to gain additional insights from sale inputs teams and customer interactions to ensure holistic approach to understanding the market dynamics.
  • Ensure foundational market understanding through the development of treatment flow maps, market segmentation, attribute/benefit testing, positioning, and campaign development, etc.
  • Develop clear and effective communication materials (e.g.

    reports, presentations) and presentations targeted to key audiences.

  • Prepare budget forecasts and ensure Market Insights is operating within budget, manage outside vendor relationships, and ensure delivery of goods and services on time and on budget.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

    An MBA is preferred.

  • 7+ years of experience in market research and possess a background that demonstrates deep expertise in market research and competitive intelligence
  • Other Requirements: Desired Experience:
  • Pharmaceutical launch experience, Eye Care experience a plus
  • Previous experience developing and executing comprehensive market research plans to support launch of products
  • Direct experience working with primary and secondary healthcare data
  • Experience with DTC and CRM data analytics and modeling
  • Experience with developing executive level market research reports, market situation updates, and presentations

  • Exceptional communication skills (both verbal, written, visual) and an ability to “tell the story”
  • Seasoned business acumen, able to influence senior management with supported insights and analytics
  • Able to translate data into compelling and concise visuals for corporate presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, identify key issues and value drivers, and translate strategic insights into appropriate analytical frameworks
  • Boston location required
