Assistant Director of Nursing, LaGrange

This is a Full-time position in La Grange, KY posted December 22, 2021.

Purpose/General DescriptionThe Assistant Director of Health Services assists the Director of Health Services in overseeing and coordinating all medical, dental, and other health services and programs provided for the individuals we support and assists in the supervision of designated personnel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAssist the Director of Health Services in the supervision of all members of the Health Services Team at Park Place and Sycamore Run and Direct Support Professionals at Sycamore Run.Assist the Director of Health Services in monitoring and delivering corrective actions for time and attendance and performance related issues up to and including termination.Participate in the Interdisciplinary TeamParticipate in other committee meetings in the absence of the Director of Health Services.Become an active participant in the Dysphasia Team.Be available and on-call as directed by the Director of Health Services (i.e.

vacation time/call rotation)Assume direct-care nursing role as needed.Facilitate and assist with the main medical clinic with the medical director and physician assistant.Contact with the families or guardians as they inquire of any significant changes in a resident’s health or treatment plan.Coordinate and take charge of the self-administration of medications program.When on-call and in coordination with the Director of Health Services, placing health services personnel and/or direct support personnel at Sycamore Run where needed and supervising their delivery of services to the individuals we support.Participating in the monthly Behavior Management Committee meeting and in the biweekly psychiatry clinic in the absence of the Director of Health Services.Coordinating and scheduling of the TB/Vaccination Program offered here at Cedar Lake.Assist with the scheduling the Health Services Team and Direct Support Professionals at Sycamore Run as necessary.Contribute in future-planning discussions and recommendations as a member of the future planning committee.Informing the Administrator and Director of Health Services of all significant happenings as it relates to the individuals we support and the health services staff and direct support staff at Sycamore Run.Ensure informed consents are obtained and education is given to guardians and individuals as necessary for medication additions.Assist the Director of Health Services with performance of monthly medication audits and coordination of quarterly medication audits with pharmacy.Assist the Director of Health Services with compiling and delivering annual IPP reports for the individuals we support.Assist the Director of Health Services with investigations of unknown origin.Assist the Director of Health Services in monitoring and processing routine Incident Reports at Sycamore Run and monitoring and processing Incident Reports in the Director of Health Services absence.Assists with compilation and delivering of performance appraisals.Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSEducation:The Assistant Director of Health Services must possess the qualifications of a “Registered Nurse” from an accredited school of nursing and be licensed by the state of Kentucky.Experience:Practical nursing experience in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred.

Management experience is preferred but not required.

Requisites:The gift of compassionate understanding of children and adults with both physical and developmental disabilities.Ability to work with individuals of all developmental levels and disabilities.Able to work with individuals with behavior management problems.This requires a patient, calm, positive attitude.Also requires a good, strong mental condition.Ability to work as a team member and a leader.This requires compromise, negotiation, and assertiveness skills.Professional and ethical conduct is expected at all times.Proper body mechanics with the ability to lift at least fifty pounds.Ability to work in a stressful environment.CPR and First-Aid abilities.Valid driver’s license with a motor vehicle record free from moving violations.Documentation skills and computer knowledge.Communication abilities with various staff, doctors, pharmacist, and individuals families.Assist in the preparation of appropriate in-services, training sessions, and health services meetings to update staff skills and knowledge base.Clean, healthy personal hygiene record.Ability to adapt to change required.Able to meet deadlines and complete work on time.Able to work with individuals family members/guardians.Good reading, writing, and language skills.Basic math skills also required.Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to apply problem-solving techniques.Good mental health demonstrated by mature, stable, consistent emotional responses.Must demonstrate good employee observation and evaluation skills.Must be able to provide both praise and correction to staff.WORK SCHEDULEFull-time, forty hours per week.

May include occasional evening/weekend work to meet individual/family needs and respond to facility needs.

Will be available and on call as directed by the Director of Health Services.
