Title: Assistant Director, Clubhouse Reports to Clubhouse Director General Purpose: Clubhouse provides an environment where adults diagnosed with mental health disorders come together fostering collaboration where each individual has the opportunity to use their strengths, talents, and abilities and work together.
The Clubhouse environment focuses on teamwork, healthy lifestyles and individual choice.
All staff promotes the development of members’ aspirations regarding Clubhouse participation, employment, education, housing, and social activities.
Under the direction of the Clubhouse Program Director and in partnership with Clubhouse staff and members, the Assistant Director will be involved in all aspects of the Clubhouse operations.
The Assistant Director must be able to adapt to situations as they arise; demonstrate flexibility and sound decision making skills in response to the demands of the Clubhouse to ensure smooth operations.
Essential Functions: Promote program development in accordance with the Clubhouse philosophy, as outlined in the International Standards for Clubhouses.
Engage members in side-by-side work with members and share in the work order day tasks, in a non-hierarchical manner.
Supervise staff and placement of members in transitional employment, supported employment and independent employment Collaborate with TE Generalist to secure & maintain employment opportunities (including Transitional Employment Program, with local businesses.
Supervise employment/education unit staff and assure timely placement of members in transitional employment, supported employment and independent employment.
Establish &/or build partnership with ACCES-VR while assisting members in skills training / employment opportunities; Facilitate coverage if the member is unable to work, attend in member’s place or assign a generalist to provide absence coverage Promote the development of members’ aspirations Participate in outreach for and communication with members who are absent for the Clubhouse Carry a caseload and assure all documentation; case notes, recovery plans pertaining to member and clubhouse activities are recorded appropriately Maintain communication at all levels of Clubhouse operations; participate in social and recreational activities, including evening, weekend and holiday hours, when required Track and collect monthly statistical reports and preparation of program reviews as per DOHMH scope of services Provide supervision to assigned generalist and assure training goals are set and completed.
Participate in resource development for Clubhouse members, by helping members find and apply for appropriate educational/employment opportunities; Develop a social media strategy in order to promote clubhouse by creating and boosting effective social media posts, using Facebook, either from a computer, or mobile phone.
Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree with some experience; Master’s Degree Preferred Vocational or Job placement experience Prior non-clinical experience working with persons with mental illness in a non-clinical approach and/or experience with recovery and rehabilitation fields.
Must be proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Teams, and Zoom Highly developed communication and organizational skills Must be able to manage multiple competing priorities, with strong follow-through Must communicate effectively, remain flexible in completing the necessary work of the Clubhouse including coverage of holidays, weekends, social activities and other special events Additional Requirement: Must undergo a background check & fingerprinting.
