Ready Mix Driver General Job DutiesSafely and efficiently drives the Ready-Mix truck to necessary locations, all while maintaining open communication with the supervisory team.
Essential Job DutiesDelivery of Ready-Mix Concrete ProductsCommunicates with Dispatcher to receive instructions via 2-way radio in truck and direct-line telephone in yardPositions truck under the batch plant in order to be loaded by Plant OperatorReceives printed delivery ticket and follows instructions as directedFills truck’s water tank and verifies accurate slump of load, makes adjustments as necessarySafely drives loaded truck to the destination on the delivery ticket and inspects job site upon arrivalWorks with customers to obtain adequate vehicle access and unloads materialsFrequently lifts, carries, and attaches flop extension chutes weighing in excess of 40 pounds, re-hangs chutes as necessaryRinses chutes and rear of the truck to ensure the absence of excess concreteReturns to plant site as instructed by Dispatcher and receives new instructionsVehicle MaintenancePerforms pre-trip vehicle safety inspection and reports vehicle condition at beginning and end of each shiftPerform daily housekeeping in truck cab and maintenance of equipment, including fluid levels and tire pressureFuels vehicle as neededCleans outside of the vehicle to ensure the absence of concrete build-up at throughout each shiftOccasionally uses chipping hammer to remove excessive concrete build-upMay assist mechanics in vehicle repairOtherTakes customer order changes in the fieldMaintains drivers’ daily reports as required by DOT and Company regulationsPerforms other duties as instructed by supervisorRecognizes surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment.Communicates with the customer to understand the requirements of job and deal with safety concerns.Education & Experience RequirementsEducation: High School Diploma or GEDCandidate must pass a pre-employment drug screenMust have a valid DOT physical exam cardAn MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) is requiredA Class A or Class B commercial driver’s license with an air brake endorsement is preferred, but we are open to training the right person in helping them get their CDL (must have CDL permit in this case to be considered)Manual transmission experience preferredA clean driving record is requiredLanguage RequirementsThe primary language of Rogers Concrete is English.
Excellent communication skills are defined as the ability to: Actively listen for total comprehensionAsk questions that enhance the understanding of a certain topicRelay information and/or instruction in a descriptive and understandable fashion in both written and verbal formsReasoning Requirements Thorough understanding of practices involved in the use of various types of heavy equipmentThorough understanding of maintenance and basic repairs associated with heavy equipmentThorough understanding of safety rules and the ability to safely operate machinerySuperior skill operating assigned equipment safely and efficientlyPhysical Requirements Must be able to physically operate heavy equipmentMust be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand to operate and repair heavy equipmentMust be able to work in all types of weather, including extremely hot and extremely cold temperaturesMust be able to lift up to 25 pounds at timesEmployment StatusThis is a full-time position, but hours may vary based on weather conditions and workload for projects.
