Lead Systems Engineer

Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS), Space and Launch Division, is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer (Level 4) to support the team in Colorado Springs, CO.

Our team provides engineering and operations support for a unique satellite program.

Engineering staff works closely with the Boeing design engineers and the program customer, preparing for the launch and operations of this satellite program.

After launch, personnel will continue to support mission execution and to respond to any anomalies or operational issues to ensure the integrity and longevity of the mission.

In addition, the Space and Launch Team creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit.

We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space.

Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

Position Overview: The Lead Systems Engineer will be a part of a high-performing team that are immersed in high intensity projects.

As a member of the P992 Systems Engineering team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of innovative technology in an agile environment.

This position will be involved in the entire system development life cycle, from idea creation and development through maintenance and support of the customer’s delivered system.

This role will support the development of system requirements, architecture, interface design, algorithm design, User Guide and Interface Control Document (ICD) authoring.

Primary Responsibilities: Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.

Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.

Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.

Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.

Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.

Resolves cross-functional technical issues.

Work Authorization: This position requires an active/current Top Secret U.S.

Security Clearance, with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartment Information (TS/SCI) security clearance and program access (post-start).

(A U.S.

Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics.

4 years or more of experience with satellite systems engineering.

2 years or more of experience with requirements development; analysis, derivation, allocation, and traceability of requirements and interfaces.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Toolsets such as Cameo Enterprise Architecture.

Knowledge of Agile methodology toolsets such as Jira.

Knowledge of requirements management toolsets such as DOORS.

Experience with space systems modeling and simulation.

Experience with Linux operating system.

Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g.

Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g.

PhD4 years’ related work experience, Master7 years’ related work experience).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard Relocation : This position does not offer relocation.

Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Colorado summary pay range: Min: $99,000 – Max: $177,000
