Driver

Sunshine Communities is hiring 2 part-time drivers to drive routes for our day vocational programs.

Must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

Prior experience working with Individuals with Developmental Disabilities is a plus.

About Sunshine:

Sunshine Communities, Inc.

is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Northwest Ohio supporting individuals with developmental disabilities through residential, vocational, clinical, therapeutic, and recreational services.

These services are offered in various circumstances including at our Maumee, Ohio campus and at homes within the community.

In addition to programs on campus, Sunshine individuals and staff operate Georgettes Grounds and Gifts, a coffee shop and fair trade gift store located in downtown Maumee.

Right across the road lies Sunshine Studios, an art studio space and gift store offering classes to individuals and the community.

Qualifications

To work as a Driver at Sunshine, you must love to drive and have a strong interest in supporting others and show compassion and empathy.

Reliability and consistency is essential to excelling as a Driver.

High School Diploma or GED

Valid Drivers License, good driving record and Auto Insurance

18 years or older

Pass criminal background, drug screen and physical

Able to lift 60 lbs.

Prior Driving experience with Vans or Buses is a plus.

Job Details

A Driver will be assigned driving routes and be responsible for picking up and taking home Individuals with Developmental Disabilities to and from vocational sites and jobs while assisting in other duties as needed.

Responsibilities include the following:

Perform daily pre-trip inspection of assigned vehicles

Operate Sunshine vehicles to transport multiple Individuals at a time

Maintain order during trip and adhere to safety rules

Assist Individuals with On-boarding and Off-boarding safely from the vehicle

Follow assigned routes

Secure Individuals equipment and wheelchairs on and off the vehicle

Complete daily paperwork and monitor maintenance issues

Train staff on driving as needed

Assist with all duties assigned
