Position Overview: .
Responsible for safely transporting participants to and from the programs, escorting children/passengers to and from vehicles, providing general supervision of children/passengers and the documentation related to the transportation vehicle.
Drives a Salvation Army vehicle in order to transport passengers to and from Salvation Army activities.
Responsibilities+ Responsible for driving the corps bus to and from school pick-ups on a daily basis.
+ Responsible for seeing that the bus is kept clean after each day.
+ Responsible for seeing that the bus is filled with gas and ready each day.
+ Check oil, water and transmission fluid weekly.
+ Aware of things that may need to be fixed and communicating this to the maintenance person and the Community Center Director.
+ Performs related duties as assigned .
+ Aware of the mission statement of The Salvation Army and make every effort to be a positive representative of The Salvation Army, both on and off site.
+ Ability and willingness to promote and comply with the Mission Statement of The Salvation Army.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of acceptable driving techniques and practices.
Knowledge of safety precautions associated with transporting passengers.
Valid state driver’s license.
Ability to drive a passenger vehicle ensuring the safety of passengers and protection of the vehicle.
Ability to read and follow maps.
Ability to gauge time needed to arrive at destination.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
and Two years of experience operating an automotive vehicle, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions : Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to drive a vehicle in heavy traffic and extended trips.
Work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long distance.
Qualifications * This position requires CDL with passenger endorsement with valid driver’s license.
* It also requires a healthy person, 21 years of age minimum, with a good driving record.
*Candidates must be able to obtain clearances required by the Joseph R.
Biden II and the Child Protection Act.
* Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
