The Vice Presidentof Development will report to OptumCare’s SVP of Development in a highly visible role working with OptumCare’s regional and local market leadership to identify, develop and execute on strategic priorities, including acquisitions, partnerships and other growth-oriented initiatives. In doing so, they will help build relationships with local market prospects and provide oversight and support to local market leadership on accelerating strategic activity.The VP will, along with local market leadership, be accountable for strategic growth in support of OptumCare’s long range plan while elevating OptumCare’s local market profile and presence. The successful candidate will work across local and national support functions including development, finance, operations and clinical performance. The VP of Development will be a highenergy individual who is able to drive strategic activity and other growth initiatives that contributes to the results of our local businesses. This leader will convey a sense of urgency to drive issues to closure through actionable, quantitative plans. The VP will be business‐minded with a core focus on growth, relationship building, and operational efficiency. They will quickly grasp the key business drivers and cost levers to establish credibility within OptumCare and our counterparties. They will actively engage with physicians and industry leaders and function as a strategic partner who is able to clearly present a coherent value proposition while effectively managing challenging, and at times competing, business interests.The VP must have a resilient, disciplined approach based on decisiveness, action and results. They will be a leader who can inspire teams, be responsive to industry/market changes, and drive service excellence across a decentralized, highly matrixed organization. The VP will have commercial instincts and external facing orientation with the ability to grow strategic relationships, effectively design and implement creative and disruptive business models, and rapidly evolve a strategy to meet the needs and opportunities of within the market.Candidate ProfileIdentification and Advancement of Growth Opportunities: The VP will have a successful track record of developing new and growing existing business relationships. They will be responsible for helping scale OptumCare’s local market operations by working closely with local market businesses, corporate development, product strategy, clinical performance and other UHG departments in support of growth initiatives. The VP will be tasked with overcoming the challenges related to disruptive, competitive, complex, and regulated business opportunities tailored to specific markets.Strategic Relationship Development The VP will develop and cultivate positive and open relationships with physician groups and other potential partners and will facilitate and oversee strong relationships between physicians, health systems and other complementary care services organizations. They will also work closely with local market leaders to identify, develop and manage strategic relationships.Transactional Leadership and Excellence: The VP will support local market leadership by providing strategic guidance on acquisitions, new business development, partnerships, as well as negotiating, diligencing and completing strategic transactions. They will understand how to successfully operate in a complex organization and anticipate market changes to identify opportunities that will drive revenue and earnings growth. The VP will demonstrate an outstanding commitment to customer service and quality to all external and internal customers while working closely with local, regional and national teams across OptumCare and UHG.Lead and Develop High Performing Cross-Functional Teams: The VP will consistently demonstrate integrity and promote leadership behavior that creates a results‐oriented culture. They will form and manage cross‐functional UHG teams and define contribution expectations based on the needs of specific opportunities being pursued. The VP will provide formal and informal feedback on an ongoing basis to ensure a strong and vibrant communications process among all stakeholders.Required Qualifications:* 10+ years in a progressive strategic/financial career with a combination of strong interpersonal skills and financial acumen* Strategic planning and business development across various markets* Experience in motivating and developing people along with excellent relationship‐ building skills* Experience working in a high‐touch service business with client experience as one of the metrics for success* Experience leading deal discussions with primary principals* Willing and able to travel 50% or more* If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener.
