JOB DESCRIPTION: Two Year Old Teacher
Position Summary
The teacher for infants through K5 is responsible for the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth and development of all children in their care. Lead teacher is also responsible for assuring compliance with State Minimum Standard, CDC guidelines, Safe Sanctuaries, Fire Marshall Regulations, and any other mandated guidelines.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year experience in related childcare or educational field required.
- Good communication, problem solving, and priority setting skills; as well as maintaining an overall positive and professional attitude/disposition.
- Ability to effectively plan, organize, and implement educational activities. Utilize provided curriculum.
- Ability to make decisions on behalf of children and protect their wellbeing.
- Must be able to manage confidential information.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs., and in case of an emergency, a 40lb. child.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops weekly plans and implements age appropriate curriculum (lesson plan) to nurture and stimulate all domains of children’s development in their care.
- Provides a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth.
- Perform regularly scheduled developmental assessments of children. These assessments should be reported to the assistant director and director.
- Schedule and carry out parent-teacher conferences at appointed times of the school year to communicate developmental assessment results with parents.
- Provide responsive care to all children by adapting daily caregiving routines and plans to the interests and needs of the individual child and the group.
- Communicate daily schedules, routines, and class information with new and current families.
- Maintain open and ongoing communication with parents, making sure to adhere to rules regarding confidentiality.
- Provide a classroom environment that encourages parent participation.
- Ensure that each family receives an opportunity to build strong, professional relationships and experience clear communication with teachers.
- Plan for and assist children and families as needed during times of transition.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation and plans as required by office, to include, but not limited to daily attendance, transitions, meals, diapering, and rest records.
- Completes and reports any symptoms of child abuse to supervisor.
- Completes daily health checks regarding hygiene, safety, and overall wellbeing of the child.
- Reports all staffing and classroom concerns to a supervisor in a timely manner.
- Maintains or exceeds required 12 hours of Continuing Education each school year.

- Staff must believe in and act in accordance with the Kids Korner core values and mission statement.
- Kids Korner is a ministry of GFUMC, and as such, teaches a Bible centered curriculum (ABeka). The person who fills this position must be able to teach this curriculum.
