Substitute Teacher

Job Description: Substitute/Teacher’s Aid

Reports to: Education Director at Telos Academy

Time commitment: 30-32 hours/week

Status: Full-Time

Teaching Hours/Direct Instruction Occurs: M-Th 8:15 to 10:30 and 1:15 to 3:30

The Sub/TA is responsible for supporting the academic team as needed.

Duties include but are not limited to: subbing for teachers, having an assigned caseload of students who need extra support in their academics and providing support for teachers with classroom management and instruction.

Qualifications:

 Solid knowledge of high school content in all subject areas

 Problem solving skills; Detail oriented

 Good interpersonal relationship skills

 Assigned work hours

 Ability to organize tasks and responsibilities

 Ability to work independently

 Provide valuable feedback and insight to the academic team about individual students

 Solution-focused and positive attitude

 Knowledge of age group characteristics and ability to work with emotionally challenged teen-aged students

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Communicates and coordinates with Education director and the academic department

 Subs for teachers as needed, may be for a full day or specific class periods

 Maintain supervision of students in the cove area
Manages the Cove so it is a quiet and productive area

Processes with students, facilitates student movement back into class
 Provides one-on-one instruction and support for students who need extra assistance in school

 Teaching Hours/Direct Instruction Occurs: M-Th 8:15 to 10:30 and 1:15 to 3:30

 Provides support to teachers by attending classes and assisting students who need extra instruction, prompting to stay on task and homework completion

 Provide instructional support with Executive functioning skills

 Attend PLC meetings M-Th

 Serve in the lunch line as assigned

 All other duties as assigned by Education Director

Job Type: Full-time
