Whether or not this is this is something that you always wanted to try, or if you are a level 3 instructor who has been teaching for 10+ years, we would like to speak with you about becoming a ski or snowboard instructor for this upcoming Winter 2020/2021 season.

Typically, an instructor is an intermediate-level rider, someone who wants to develop his or her riding abilities throughout the season.
They are people who love to meet others and share their passion for the mountain lifestyle.
Our best guests are under the age of 12, so enjoying working with children is a must!Our Stratton in-house training will give you the tools you need to develop your technical and teaching skills as a snowboarder on the mountain.
We will develop your people skills in delivering a safe and fun lesson.
By January of your first season, you will have the applied skills to be able to test into AASI Level 1 Certification.ESSENTIAL DUTIESMust be able to complete 4 full days of on-snow new-hire training.Training sessions will run November 28th & 29th, December 5th & 6th OR December 12th & 13th, December 19th & 12thUpholding the highest levels of guest safety on varied terrain with constantly changing winter weather conditions.Being proactive in providing a high level of customer service.
Knowing the resorts offerings and layout in order to provide accurate information to further enhance guest’s experience.Clearly and accurately instructing assigned levels of skiing or snowboarding to students, both physically and verbally, utilizing current information and techniques.Ensuring that students are matched to appropriate skier/snowboarding skill level and working with supervisors/managers to make appropriate changes when necessary.Assisting guests when loading and unloading the chairlift.Communicating instructions and helping guests to their feet during a lesson.Supervising children in class at all times; assisting at lunch and snack times; ensuring return of children to identified guardian.Knowing all policies and procedures as outlined in the MSS employee manual; specifically those related to ensuring the safety of guests and employees.Assisting in operational responsibilities of Snowsports programs including but not limited to registration process, directing guests to appropriate equipment-fitting source, upkeep of outdoor teaching areas, and cleanliness of facilities.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSEducation: High school diploma in process or completed, preferred.
PSIA affiliation, preferred.Experience:Attend orientation and all new-hire on snow training days required.Basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and browser applications; basic Internet navigation required.Must be fluent in all aspects of the English language (spoken and written) required.Must have excellent guest service skills required.Must have excellent communication skills required.Must work well in a team environment required.Must be able to work in inclement weather in a mountain environment required.Must have sight, speech, and hearing abilities sufficient to learn skills, follow and provide directions required.Must be available to work holidays and weekends required.AASI membership – encouraged.Experience working with guests of all ages preferred.Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring– preferred.Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring children preferred.QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTSMust be comfortable navigating blue terrain on snowboard at a resort.
Basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and browser applications; basic Internet navigation is required.All Instructor applicants must providetwo (2)letters of reference and submit a resume in order to be considered for a position.Letters of reference should pertain to the applicant’s previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring/leadership, whenever possible.Stratton Mountain Resortwill also conduct reference checks for all candidates being considered for employment and a criminal background check for all candidates who have been offered a position in our Mountain Sports School.Stratton Mountain Resort is an Equal Opportunity Employer
