A speech therapist works with students who have communication disorders of articulation, voice, fluency, or impaired language that impairs their academic achievement and/or socio-emotional development.
The correctionist’s goal is to improve student’s communication skills and assist them in meeting their academic potential.
Responsibilities * Conduct one-on-one or small group speech/language therapy* Integrate student’s curriculum with speech/language services* Consult with classroom teachers and other school personnel* Perform assistive technology evaluations* Screen, assess, and evaluate each student’s communications strengths and needs* Collect data and maintain accurate records of all consultant and therapy services provided* Understand and adhere to all ESS and intermediate unit policies and procedures* Demonstrate cooperation and flexibility in performing other related duties as assigned by school administration and ESS Qualifications * Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification as a Speech Therapist* Pennsylvania State Criminal History Clearance (Act 34)* Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151)* Federal Criminal History Clearance (Act 24)* Tuberculosis test reflecting negative results* Pennsylvania Department of education form 6004: Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification ESS Advantages * Benefits
