Speech-Language Pathologist

WASHINGTON COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

This is a Contract position in Hagerstown, MD posted August 13, 2020.

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will ensure IEP compliance of speech services for extended school year (ESY), IEP students and mandated year round services for IFSP students.

The SLP will support the evaluation and assessment process for year round IEP and IFSP services.

Minimum Requirements: Master s degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited college or university.

Certificate of Clinical Competence or eligibility from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Must hold Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene license for Speech Pathology.

Broad knowledge of research based strategies that lead to increased student achievement.

Knowledge of Common Core State Standards.

Knowledge and experience using Assistive Technology and instructional technology.

Knowledge of state and federal laws (e.g., NCLB, COMAR, IDEA).

Commitment to WCPS Master Plan, its goals and objectives, and attaining SPI as defined by MSDE.

Strong background in communication assessment, interventions, and programs for students with diverse special needs.

Evidence of effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Evidence of ability to organize, facilitate, and manage multiple tasks.

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Role Responsibilities: In addition, the speech-language pathologist will: Evaluate and provide therapy to students with speech/language disabilities.

Analyze and interpret formal and informal assessment data and facilitate the use of the data as a guide for effective instruction to improve student speech/language skills.

Function as an essential member of the Individualized Education Program team.

Develop and implement speech/language goals and objectives as part of a student s Individualized Education Program.

Case manage individual students, maintaining complete and accurate records.

Complete Medical Assistance billing forms and maintain Medical Assistance records.

Keep informed about current literature, research, and instructional strategies in speech/language therapy.

Develop lessons and materials for instruction and assessment.

Facilitate the use of technology for instruction and assessment.

Provide instruction and support for the implementation of assistive technology as appropriate.

Provide instruction and support for use of appropriate materials, strategies, and techniques for improving student achievement.

Work cooperatively and collaboratively with staff to enhance student achievement.

Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.

Perform other appropriate duties as assigned.
