Description SPECIALIST SERIES: Metabolic Changes in Alzheimer’s Neurons The Departments of Biomedical Engineering in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering currently accepting applications in the specialist series in the area of the age-related metabolic basis of Alzheimer’s disease.

You will perform experiments to alter the course of age-related metabolic changes in neurons in culture and in vivo from Alzheimer-like transgenic mice under the direction of Dr.

Gregory J.

Brewer ( http://brewer.eng.uci.edu ).

The NIH funded project examines hippocampal changes with aging that affect Alzheimer’s disease.

You will discover crucial metabolic interventions to alter the processing of beta-amyloid.

The initial appointment will be full-time for a 24 month period.

Renewal of the contract will be contingent on the availability of adequate funding and performance.

Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Irvine has a pleasant climate, 5 miles from the beach.

Requirements: Ph.D.

in neuroscience, cell biology, or mitochondrial bioenergetics and interest in Alzheimer’s disease.

Fluorescence image analysis and transfection experience preferred.
