This On Call Research Specialist will be supervised bty Dr.
Caryl Sortwell.
This On Call Research Specialist position will participate in a Parkinson’s disease research project in the Sortwell laboratory.
Specifically, the On Call Research Specialist position will work directly with Dr.
Sortwell and facilitate communication between laboratory members.
The On Call Research Specialist position will have the following specific job responsibilities: 1) Analysis of existing droplet digital PCR data.
2) Statistical analysis and preparation of visual graphics.
3) Preparation of progress reports related to ongoing NIH-funded research examining the astrocytic phenotype associated with alpha-synuclein inclusion formation.
4) Preparation manuscripts for publication.
5) Design of in situ hybridization probes for examination of astrocytic phenotype.
This position is located at 400 Monroe St NW, Grand Rapids, MI.
Required Degree Doctorate -Neuroscience, Biology, Molecular Biology Minimum Requirements Doctoral degree in natural sciences and minimum of two years postdoctoral research experience.
Skills required include: a strong background in Parkinson’s disease with a specific expertise in alpha-synuclein biology and rodent models of PD.
Experience with data management and handling, statistical analysis, data interpretation, writing up results, good interpersonal skills and software usage.
Good command of written and spoken English is required.
Desired Qualifications Expertise in droplet digital PCR technology, in situ hybridization and astrocyte biology.
