NICHOLAS CHURCH JOB DESCRIPTION Music Minister Position Summary Administers and develops the piano driven contemporary music ministry for SNC including recruiting, training and leading a varied ministry of music to ensure that the Christ-centered, contemporary, liturgical worship continues to grow in scope and excellence in harmony with the church’s mission statement Time Commitment Full-time, 40 hours per week (includes rehearsal time, Sunday worship services, special holiday services, planning time, monthly staff meeting, and office time) Non-exempt Education/Experience Music degree or related experience 3 years leading worship in a church service setting Qualifications/Skills Mature Christ follower Passion for glorifying God through music and worship Gifted in leading worship services with piano and voice, drawing others into worship Able to follow through and complete tasks Effective verbal and written communication skills Possess a pastoral bent as evidenced by empathy, patience and effective listening Able to plan worship services and lead band & vocal rehearsals Has a high level of computer literacy especially with Adobe products, Mac computers, Planning Center and other computer software used within our church environment.

Responsibilities and Duties
• Actively Seek to Bring Others to Christ
• Worship Services o Prepare spiritually o Prepare and write worship service plans taking into account the sermon topics, scripture reading and other worship service elements o Input music into the worship bulletin for the worship services o Coordinate with the sound technician o Create powerpoint slides for worship services o Coordinate with the Worship Team Purpose Team Leader o Lead the music from the piano with the band and singers
• Musician Development o Prepare the instrumental and vocal teams musically and spiritually through week
– ly rehearsals o Individual coaching for soloists o Encourage the musicians to grow in their area of expertise through active training and coaching.

o Identify, recruit and equip new people who are musically gifted but not currently involved with the music ministry o Compose and prepare chord charts and special arrangements as necessary
• Community o Foster a sense of community within the church by casting a vision for music ministry consistent with the mission and vision of SNC o Create a team environment that encourages participation from current and new members o Develop, supervise and mentor the music community at SNC o Create a worship culture and opportunities for youth to get involved in worship through youth bands, seasonal choirs, music lessons, etc.

• Outreach o Develop an outreach vision for the music ministry consistent with the overall vision of SNC o Oversee outreach events and activities for the music ministry
• Special Events o Develop special music performances associated with special holidays (Christmas, Easter, etc.) o Plan and perform music for weddings, funerals and other events as needed
• Administration o Responsible for the organization and maintenance of the music library o Facilitate upkeep and maintenance of all instruments and sound equipment o Maintain team rehearsal and weekend schedules o Assist with the work in the church office as needed
• Management o Attend regular monthly staff meetings and leadership meetings as needed o Assist with the annual budget process and monitor the Music Ministry budget throughout the year o Work with appropriate committees, officers and leaders to carry out the ministry of the church Accountability Rector Direct Reports Music ministry paid musicians and sound tech Music ministry volunteers Piano, director, contemporary, liturgical
