CLEVELAND STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE is accepting applications for the following position: Fall 2020 Chemistry Adjunct Faculty Pool Position Summary: Instructors provide quality instruction for student learning and maintain apositive learning environment in the class.

The major emphasis for instructorsis on teaching and evaluating students in the course.

Classes are taught in avariety of formats and at several different locations, as well as online.Instructors also communicate with students between classes and are responsiblefor several administrative duties such as reporting on academic activity andsubmitting final grades.

Duties and Responsibilities: 1.

Planning and teaching classes as assignedand as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi and departmentalguidelines.

2.

Beginning and ending all classes asscheduled and covering all relevant learning outcomes for each course.

3.

Maintaining academic standards andclassroom behavior to ensure an environment conducive to learning, communicatingwith students weekly, and answering student emails in a timely manner.

4.

Evaluating students using a variety ofmethods and informing each student of scores received on each assessment in atimely manner.

5.

Using Cleveland State email for administrativepurposes and responding to student questions via Cleveland State email in atimely manner.

6.

Meeting deadlines for all administrativerequests such as submitting personnel paperwork, acknowledging contracts,academic activity and assessment reports, and final grades.

7.

Submitting requests through the departmentchair, program coordinator/director, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies,textbooks, and other instructional aids.

Required Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Chemistry from a regionally accreditedinstitution or Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Chemistry.

Three years teaching experiencepreferred.

Experience with alternativedelivery instructional modes recommended – hybrid, online, interactive, etc.

Applicants may be subject to a backgroundcheck.

Adjunct contracts are offered one semester ata time and are not guaranteed for more than one semester at a time.

Adjunct faculty pay rates are based upon educationalqualifications.
