Job Title: Early Childhood Associate Teacher Long Term Substitute

Faculty Supervisor: Head of Early Childhood

The Position Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School seeks an associate teacher for a long term substitute position to work with our early childhood classroom teachers.

This relationship provides the associate teacher with hands-on experiences in teaching, curriculum planning, classroom management, documentation, and collaboration.

Primary Responsibilities
Assist in teaching, guiding, inspiring, and nurturing children in the early childhood program

Assist in differentiating instruction for a wide range of students’ abilities and interests

Support the Lead Teachers in the documentation of student learning and growth throughout the school year

Assist with the preparation and/or organization of teaching materials

Collaborate with Lead Teacher, Specials Teachers, and other Associate Teachers

Supervise students at recess, lunch, and dropoff/pickup

Speak professionally and respectfully with parents and caregivers

Supporting before and/or after school supervision/programming
Requirements:
College degree; degree in education preferred

Experience working with children

Energy and the desire to learn and explore with teachers and children

Awareness of Reggio inspired/Constructivist philosophy and approach

Awareness of early literacy and math instruction

Ability to embrace technology and new ways of extending students’ learning and creative capacities; knowledge of iPads preferred

Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administration to support and extend the objectives of the curriculum

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Appreciation of a diverse, pluralistic Jewish community
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in case of emergency a 40 pound child.

Often required to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat or crawl.

Comfort being part of a professional learning community

Awareness of the cognitive, social, and emotional issues of early childhood age students

Willingness to learn and grow professionally
