The position will be a great fit for those seeking a fast-paced, mission-driven professional recruitment and admission counseling position.

The Admissions Counselor – Asian American Outreach & Recruitment will play a key, collaborative role in advancing the university by recruiting highly talented and diverse students and meeting enrollment objectives.

The position will be responsible for articulating UW-Madison’s message, participating in the holistic application review process, and maintaining communication with prospective students and families through speaking engagements on and off campus, as well as the management of an assigned recruitment territory.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience: Prior experience working in admissions or student affairs at a selective college or university is preferred.

Knowledge of the college admission recruitment cycle and best practices in attracting, recruiting, admitting, and enrolling students within a large university/high volume admissions office is preferred.

Proven experience working with individuals of diverse racial, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds.

Experience with community-based organizations working with college-going Southeast Asian students is preferred.

High level of fluency in Hmoob, Thai, or Laotian, both written and verbal is preferred.

Strong oral and written communication skills including significant public speaking experience.

Proven results in achieving objectives and goals.

Demonstrated commitment to data-driven decision-making, including effective analytical skills.

Strong facility with computers, office software applications, and database systems Capability to leverage technology, office software, CRM system, etc.

Ability and willingness to travel locally and nationally, and work evening and weekend hours during peak times.

Knowledge of the UW-Madison community including academic offerings, research, and student life is preferred.

License or Certificate: This position involves travel.

A valid driver’s license is required to operate a state vehicle.

Incumbents must be able to operate a state vehicle or provide his/her own transportation.

Additional Information: This full-time academic staff position is available with a desired begin date of June 15, 2020.

A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered, with title and salary dependent on qualifications.

The minimum starting salary is $40,000.
