We are seeking a collaborative, energetic, and innovative full-time accounting instructor who is committed to student retention and success.

The instructor will be responsible for establishing and promoting an effective learning environment to maximize student learning.

They may be assigned to teach accounting courses online, in traditional classroom and/or blended/hybrid settings, and must be available to teach courses during evening, weekend, and nontraditional times, as needed in the Business & Technology Division at Delta College.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Possess the ability to work in a variety of settings, including online, which promote quality learning.

Teach accounting courses.

Demonstrate teaching effectiveness which supports student learning and encompasses pedagogies for student success to meet course and/or program requirements.

Maintain professional development to assure currency within field of practice.

Possess effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

Make effective and innovative use of appropriate technology in the performance of the responsibilities and accountabilities.

Engage fully in course, discipline, program development, curriculum development and assessment.

Demonstrate a commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Delta College.

Focus on supporting and assessing student learning and academic achievement to ensure student success.

Continually develop appropriate innovation in learning and teaching to meet diverse learning styles and student needs.

Collaborate voluntarily and energetically with colleagues in the academic discipline and with other faculty colleagues to develop effective learning experiences for a diverse student body.

Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of diversity based on the college statement on diversity.

Integrate international and intercultural experiences in the College, community, and curriculum.

Serve the community through outreach activities.

Required Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in accounting or bachelor’s degree in related field with a higher degree in accounting or with a concentration in accounting.

Preferred: Master’s degree from an accredited institution in accounting or MBA with concentration in accounting or finance or CPA or CMA licensure.

Master’s degree with 18 graduate credit hours in Accounting and/or Taxation from an accredited institution.

Or a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a Master’s degree currently in progress to include a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Accounting and/or Taxation.

Two years’ (4,000 hours) work experience in the field of accounting.

Demonstrated currency and professional growth in the field of accounting.

Experience, specialization and/or interest in Taxation.

Demonstrated proficiency in relevant technologies.

Additional Experiences Considered ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCES CONSIDERED: Professional accounting or financial certification (for example: CPA, CMA, CIA, CFP, etc.) is preferred.

Professional experience as a Tax Specialist.

Substantial multicultural experience (for example, urban community service, academic course work in minority or foreign language studies, or teaching experience with minority students).

An ability to teach in a variety of formats including online.

College teaching experience.
