Job Description The Massachusetts Teachers Association (MTA) is a union dedicated to improving the workplace and the quality of life for all education employees and to protecting their hard-won rights. The Field and Organizing Division is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Regional Representative. Regional Representatives are MTA members who have gained significant bargaining and organizing experience within their own locals and who are capable of providing assignment-based support to chapters in other locals as assigned by MTA regional managers. Ideal candidates will possess excellent collective bargaining and organizing skills, have experience in contract enforcement and grievance handling, have exemplary interpersonal and advocacy skills, and have a demonstrated commitment to racial, gender, and economic justice and to advancing the interests of public education. The duties for this position may include but are not limited to: Lead contract negotiations or directly support the chief negotiator Organize new units Organize participation of local associations in priority campaigns of the MTA Implement the MTA/NEA policies and programs Perform other related duties as assigned To be successful in the role you will need: Experience in your own local as a bargaining chair, CAT team chair, local officer, or building rep Proven ability to interact positively with a variety of personalities Attention to detail and follow-through Excellent oral and written communication skills Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail systems MTA is an equal opportunity employer.
