Patient Services Representative – Hale Makua Kahului

The Location: Hale Makua Kahului

Hale Makua Health Services is a Maui based non-profit that improves the well-being of those in its care through compassionate personalized health services. We are devoted to helping Maui’s Elders live their best lives. Hale Makua’s Kahului location is a 254-bed nursing facility.

The Position:

We’re looking for a passionate Patient Account Representatives to ensure that all our guests and their families are warmly welcomed to our various Communities and serves as the liaison between our guests and the centralized business services department which includes meeting with our guests and their families upon admission and discharge to discuss insurance coverages and financial arrangements . Responsibilities include:

  • Managing and monitoring the petty cash fund, ensuring that the dollar thresholds are enforced, and disbursements are made with the appropriate documentation and approvals, balancing and/or reconciling the fund, and requesting replenishment on a weekly basis to ensure that there are adequate funds available to process all petty cash requests.
  • Processing deposits and disbursements, monitoring trust accounts, and generating monthly and/or quarterly trust fund statements in a timely manner.
  • Admission meetings with families and/or residents/guest to explain insurance coverage, plan benefits, facility private pay rates, billing and collection procedures. Scanning signed documents in Vision once completed.
  • Attending Medicare meetings, communicating discharges and/or changes in level of care and/or payor sources to the clinical and financial teams in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in Accounting or a combination of education and experience in healthcare related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare billing office.
  • Experience with health care collections and insurance coverage verifications.
