This is a full-time exempt position.
MAIN FUNCTION: Reporting to the Regional Manager of the location, this is an intermediate level position which is part of the merchandising team for the location.

The position, acting as part of the team, will be accountable for the procurement of raw materials and/or the marketing of finished products to achieve optimum financial results.

The position is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with accounts, including the handling of logistics, accounting, and other customer related issues.

As an intermediate member of the merchandising team, this position requires a higher level of strategic thinking, market knowledge and employee development than an entry-level position.

Primary Job Duties:
* Trade the rail shuttle position, trade our country asset position and trade our truck resale position
* Responsible for futures position and input on spreads for all commodities.
* Origination accounts in Illinois
* Sales accounts covering all commodities (River, Export desks, Ethanol plants)
* Arbitrage all commodities in a 2 state area
DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED:
* Is able to prepare & analyze basic profit & loss and other divisional month end reports
* Strategically seeks out new business that would profitably enhance company assets
* Builds & maintains relationships with a wide range of customers, including premium and volume accounts
* Understands customer requirements in order to collaborate and add value to both companies
* Is able to prepare & present reports to management detailing customer issues & opportunities
* Maintains a clear customer account list and provides detailed background information in files
* Handles all accounting related issues in a timely manner to ensure good customer service
* Attends internal training sessions to learn more advance merchandising skills & systems
* Ensures the most cost efficient transportation and logistics
* Develops a good working knowledge of freight spreads and competitor activities
* Handles all accounting related issues in a timely manner to ensure good customer service
* Works to make quick decisions in a fast market while accepting the responsibility to defend them logically
* Develops a clear understanding of local, national, & world markets & trends
* Aggressively makes outbound phone calls to deliver and receive timely market information
* Price discovery and bid/offer maintenance to enhance risk management and pricing
* Understanding of margin calculations & their effect on commodity pricing
* Ensures the most cost efficient transportation and logistics
* Understands the value of ADM owned transportation (i.e.

barges, trucks and railcars) & how to enhance value
* Develops a clear understanding and working knowledge of ADM information technology systems & ability to train others
* Understands and has strict adherence to corporate compliance policies & safety systems & programs
* Ensures that individual goals are aligned with company goals
* Constantly works on individual personal development within the company
* Develops good understanding of local plant operations
* Works to attain positive, cooperative relationships with internal colleagues across divisions & responsibilities
* Effectively use communication channels for proper coordination within the office & other locations
* Portrays a positive image of the company and self when interacting with customers & colleagues
* Prepares and submits daily & ad hoc reports
* Helps in the development & training of new employees
* Is willing to work outside normal business hours including weekends
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
University degree in agriculture or business (i.e.

economics, finance, accounting), supplemented with a minimum of two (2) years experience in the marketing of commodities and related food, feed and/or fuel products in North America.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Demonstrated capacity to excel within high risk, fast-paced, work environment.

Proven ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions.

Demonstrated negotiation and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the domestic & international trade.

Proven ability to manage effectively within a team based work environment.

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with end-users, suppliers, and internal customers.

Computer competent, with demonstrated ability in the use of spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.

Applications within a windows based operating environment.

Individual must be committed to corporate ethics policies & safety programs.

Must have experience managing a cash grain position, Agris experience a plus, 3-5 years experience in the grain business.
Relocation is available with this position.
