Kitchen Assistant

Green Garden Child Development Center is GROWING every day and with that we have seen the need to add a Kitchen Assistant to our nutrition team. We are looking for a candidate to work Monday through Friday to assist our Director of Nutrition. Our Kitchen Assistant would help prepare meals as per our standard recipes, prepare meal portions, clean food, cook meals and keep a sanitized work area. We are seeking a candidate with excellent teamwork skills, a strong work ethic, and prior kitchen experience is preferred.

Each member of our nutrition team must meet specific requirements for this position, here is an overview of the responsibilities.

• Assist in the preparation and service of nutritious, kid-friendly, vegetarian meals and snacks for our five child care campuses
• Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment including daily dish washing and general kitchen cleaning
• Able to assist in the loading and unloading of our transport vehicle in a variety of weather conditions, some moderate lifting may be required
• Possess excellent time management skills and the ability to work efficiently in time-sensitive conditions
• Knowledge and enthusiasm for organic and vegetarian cooking and the ability to share an excitement about food and nutrition with children
• Maintains awareness of allergies and food restrictions
• Follows the daily menu and Direction of Nutrition Director
• Ensures that each meal is ready to be served/delivered when scheduled
• Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
• Clean and maintain station in practicing food safety and sanitation
• Assist with the cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment
• Restock items as needed throughout the shift
• Other duties as assigned

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 – $14.00 per hour

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)
