Cook Job Responsibilities:
Ability to learn, prepare, cook and plate seasonally-rotated recipes and follow special dietary orders.
Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours to ensure quality, temperature and food appearance are preserved.
Work within set budget guidelines.
Promptly discuss and resolve any potential food and supply management issues, including securing items in time for food prep, ensuring leftovers are properly stored and used, and inventories are maintained – all according to Spectrum Dietary Standards and Policies.
Execute menu items, plate presentation and food quality to company standards.
Continuously showcase Spectrum’s Guiding Principles by contributing your unique skills and applying your knowledge to elevate the culture of our Food & Beverage program.
Keep assigned work station in safe and sanitary conditions and comply with all state and local health department practices, safety practices, and infection control practices.
Participate in daily pre-shift meetings and share creative ideas with managers and staff to create Chef’s Favorites.
May assist with other responsibilities on an as-needed basis.
Cook Requirements:
Maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene and comply with department dress code.
Culinary training preferred, or extensive cooking and production experience
All candidates must successfully complete the pre-employment process as required by Spectrum policy and State regulations, including but not limited to, a criminal background check.
Must currently hold a Food Handler’s Card, or be willing to obtain one, as required by state and/or county regulations.
Cook Work Experience:
At least two years’ previous experience in all stations of kitchen, hotel, restaurant, or related operation preferred.
Food preparation skills adequate to prepare the required menu cycles.
Knowledge of sanitation and safe food handling standards.
Ability to communicate and read recipes, production charts, and complete required documentation on shift.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and work within time requirements.
Strong customer service attitude/presentation.
Caring and compassionate towards others.
Must be medically able and willing to wear a NIOSH-approved tight-fitting respirator (N95 mask), if required by and in accordance with federal or state regulations or Spectrum policy
